would this plan be enough to start up a fairly small forum:

http://www.lunarpages.com/basic-hosting/

or would i have to go with this:

http://www.lunarpages.com/business-hosting/

Depends on how many concurrent users you are going to have at one time online. One of my clients sites are at lunarpages and they use the basic hosting but only have about 20-25 concurrent connections and then they start to disable their scripts http://seotips4.com/imgs/signature_LunarSmile.jpg

of course, but 20-25 concurrent connections would be fine! so i guess i'll give it a shot! thanks for the input!

have a great weekend!

Try Bluhost.com or Hostgator.com

From my experience, Lunar Pages is okay for a relatively small forum, but once it gets at least somewhat popular, it's likely it'll be suspended or the like, especially if you have a decent amount of modifications.

I've tried them in the past, they are not very friendly once your forum starts to grow beyond very small...

hmm... ok guess i'll go with something else than. anybody got any bright ideas?

does the bluehost professional hosting for 6.95 cut it for a start or should i go with hostgator's most popular hosting plan for 7.95? both claim unlimited bandwidth, which is usually false.

I personally use host gator and can't complain at all my sites are pretty optimized though and run lean on features but usually have 10-15 people online at a time and about 500-900 unqiues daily on host gator for a few different sites on their smallest hosting package. Totally worth it imo https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

I strongly recommend against lunarpages. We use ace-host.net, shared plan, +5,000 members, 100+ online most of the time.

How is Lunarpages when you use a vps plan?
