All support for vBulletin 3.7 is hereby discontinued. :(

Installed, have a little remark: i think you should better use smth like $stylevar[imgdir_misc] instead of "images" for the url of "close" button. This will be useful for forums with 2 or more styles installed.

3.6.x?Wouldn't be hard to tweak. You'd pretty much apply the same template edits (the headinclude code, the onClick actions in the PM links, and the hidden DIV that contains the popup form) and I don't see how it wouldn't be compatible. I just don't know if the templates are significantly different or not, so the auto template edit might not work if they were. Otherwise... yeah, should work fine.

ehhh whatever, man - like many people i use smaller fonts, so the notice is of equal prominence with the rest of the site's text.

At last count I think about three of my 7,000+ users had their own vB installations, so it's not like anyone's going to be rushing to click the link to this thread. One of those three has already complained about your notification, although that was as much about the perceived tackiness of the "Facebook style..." title as it was about the size of the links.

It's a nice mod alright, but i'll uninstall later.

I have installed this on my forum, but it seems to have stretched the first post in each page of a thread. I am using a fixed width style, and it stretches just the first posts on the page to fluid.

I installed it and like the convenience of the pop up window, but when the message is sent, a whole new window opens up at my inbox. What is the purpose in that? Seems like the whole idea as you stated it was to be able to send Pm's without leaving the page you're on.

Plus, it interfered with some functionality of my site. For instance, when trying to select some posts to move, the check boxes clicked, but at the bottom, I could not move them because the interface did not recognize that they were checked. Any help here?

I had to uninstall it until I can get this fixed. Nice mod, though. I like the idea.

Yeah, good idea but I will have to uninstall because of the same two reasons. Pop-up window and can't delete a sinlge PM. Get those fixed and I'm back to installed.

There seems to be a small layout rendering problem with the X (close) in Firefox (3 & 4) and Chrome (look attachment) maybe opera as well. It shows in the right spot with Internet Explorer though :( Aside from that very very good job ^^

You can resolve it by downloading the updated ZIP and uploading the new clientscript/dhtmlwindow.css file, or by opening the dhtmlwindow.css file and changing:

It might not be so bad, except the uninstall didn't remove the template edits it put in, so I'm now having to go through and manually edit each of the effected templates (all of them). Perhaps something to even allow us to choose exactly what templates get edited.

I had the same problem on my test forum, which is why I made a note in the first post here to check to make sure all edits were removed. If you click on the name of someone from the Who's Online, which takes you to their Profile and then navigate back, it shows you as PMing that person. Nothing I can't live with but thought I would mention it.

The problem with v1.1 was that the hidden divs were still loading the new PM form for every single post, or for a profile, or your members list, or show groups, and you can imagine loading between 1-20 new PM forms every page view. I don't want to imagine the queries that generated. :p The update does not load any given new PM form until a link is actually clicked to send a PM.

I have an AWESOME pager system I installed on my forum - it also uses voice and video. - it costs big time money though but worth EVERY penny.

Installed old 1.1 again and that makes it work. wtf is that? lolFirst, uninstall the product. Then, check all your templates against the template edit text file to make sure all the edits were removed. If not, manually remove/change back the bits that weren't removed. Reinstall the v1.2 and then check all your templates against the ones in the template edit text file to make sure they were all applied correctly.

If that doesn't work, PM me with your browser type, version and whether or not you're getting any script errors and I'll see what I can do.

I'm going to have to do some manual edits now, because my moderators can't check any posts during inline moderation...There were problems with the v1.0 uninstaller if you had made any other changes to your templates, which is why in the first post of this thread I recommended that you verify the template edits were correctly removed upon v1.0 uninstall. Not doing so can leave the edits, which will continue to break your inline moderation. ;) The most important one to verify removal of is the postbit and postbit_legacy <div> near the top of the template - that's the one that broke inline moderation and deleting single PMs.

Once you successfully remove the edits from v1.0, the installer for v1.1 and v1.2 are correctly designed to accurately add and remove the edits.

In the next day or two, I'll create a script that will remove the edits from all versions in the event you're having problems doing it yourself.

If you do ever decide to look at the pager option, it seems like you have most of the basics with this mod, im more then happy to send you the old vb pager modification for you to install and see what it does.

I've just released an update to move this up to v1.3. I've also renamed it, as it's original name was with a different style in mind. :p

This update improves efficiency and adds AJAX username suggestion. It also allows for compatibility for vB versions before 3.7.0. The biggest improvement is definitely the template edit improvements. A lot of the link code was moved to the plugins that enabled the PM links, so templates weren't edited with as much stuff and therefore don't get messed up as easily now.

I'll add some instructions on how to add the popup PMs to a PM link outside of the ones that have been pre-configured with the installer on the first post of this thread. The installer gets all of the ones I know of that are default to vBulletin.

Let me know if there are any issues with v1.3, but it's getting to be pretty stable. :)

Is it me or in 1.3 leaving the "Usergroups That Can Use Popup PM" empty doens't work like it did in previous versions? The popups only show when the usergroupid is in the box :P

And also by leaving it empty does it mena that guest it loads for gests too? (even though they can't send PMs)

You should be able to add a hidden <input> inside a conditional (or something smarter) to fix it :)

My users love the feature though :D

I would like a copy of the pm to be saved in the sent items without displaying the miscellaneous items. 3.8 has this ability with the quickreply function - it looks at the user's preferences to see if the message should be saved in the "sent items" folder.

Secondly, I have a pager system installed on my site and if I'm composing a message with the popup pm and someone pages me for chat (ajax), the layer shows up UNDERNEATH the popup private message layer. How can I get this to show up on top of the popup layer?

Finally, I would like to extend the popup pm to outside of the forum folder into the root folder where I have vbadvanced installed. Will this work? How would I get this to work outside of the root folder? Thanks.

Ok, I WAS loving it lol but when you selected send "so & so" a private message it would say in the title who it was too but recipient username was empty. Simple copy & paste IMO but too much to expect my members to do ;) so, sorry for the un-install.

1. I cannot close the pop up window. Not in Explorer, not in FireFox. The close button does not work at all, gives a message that the image can be improved by using Shift F5 if I remember correct.
2. While looking op the css file I got this message from the editer "You are not using a utf-8 language file. You should not save utf-8 data or you will get corrupted results"

So, uninstalled it and removed the files from the server. Still like the idea and hope you can fix these bugs

i am using the intro hack too nikki and this mod...but have not had any problems with it.

I have however just added a new theme, and it doesnt work right on this new theme only. I have checked the template edits, all is fine from what i can tell though i had to add to footer and heead includes, but it pops up, and the editor doesnt appear.

edit: problem solved, fresh installed the mod, all working fine.

I really like this mod, but when installed and used, it resizes to full screen and takes over the current window, so that it doesn't show in a separate window. :eek: If you close it you close that screen and have to go back into the website.

I have set the pop up window size to 550px X 400px. but it still resizes into the current window. :confused:

I check all the templates edits and they are all as they should be.

Any help or suggestions ?

I installed this and commented about how great it is a few posts back. However, I just noticed that you can PM multiple recipients but you cannot add them as CC or BCC which for Moderators and Staff is very important. In Mod communication with regular users we almost always use BCC to prevent stepping on each others toes.

Just installed on my website and all seems to be working ok so far.

I noticed on the admin screen where you "Leave blank to show for all users" that if you do leave it blank it disables it for all users.

I do like this mod though, it's got some good potential. Would be nice if you could read PM's like this also on the private.php page.

ok the upload folder that you just made you dont need it.. what the upload folder means is that you have to upload the files and folders that are in there to your forum..

like if there is a folder called Images,, you upload that folder and or files to the folder already on your site. ie like this mine is setup like this..........

www.yoursite.com/forums/images this is where the files in that folder would go..

Yes, I double-checked everything to be sure.

After a little more testing, I determined that the problem is only happening for me in Firefox 3. IE7 works fine.

After I close the PM window, if I click another PM link on the page, the window comes up blank. Once I refresh the page, it works again.


I can verify this bug. The exact same problem happens to me - after closing the popup window and reopening it, the PM popup is blank; page refresh solves the problem, which only occurs in FF3. I disabled all Firefox plugins, but the problem still persists.

Is it me or in 1.3 leaving the "Usergroups That Can Use Popup PM" empty doens't work like it did in previous versions? The popups only show when the usergroupid is in the box :P

And also by leaving it empty does it mena that guest it loads for gests too? (even though they can't send PMs)

By the way, for all people here trying to use this on 3.8.0 you must manually edit the templates according to instructions on the file of this mod and correct but pay attention to the footer template edition, instructions are incorrect, the right word is "$pmpopup"

There were several template edits which need reversed if you uninstalled. (goes with any TE mod)

I found one problem when this mod is installed. My forum is 3.8.1.
When this mod is enabled and you have welcome PM's turned on, after the user receives their email to click on to activate their account they receive this error.

Fatal error: Call to a member function clean_gpc() on a non-object in /home/********/public_html/includes/class_dm_user.php(2595) : eval()'d code on line 1

Their account still activates but the error above is all they see upon clickin the activation link.
They also never receive the PM.
Once you take the name out (username welcome PM's will come from) out of vbulletin options -> user registration options they can activate with no issues.

I have same issue noted above been trying to find the culprit of the issue (mod) for quite some time finally found it.

To fix the issue you need to do a if statement around a plugin. Since the newpm does not have global $vbulletin value it errors the second the plugin tries to clean the value.

Change Popup PM Postbit Link postbit_display_start:

After trying to get this to work and failing I have figured out what the problem was. When you install it there is an option in the settings that says: "Usergroups That Can Use Popup PM:
Enter the Usergroup IDs of the usergroups you want to allow access to the Popup PM popup feature. Leave blank to show for all users. Separate by commas, i.e. 1,2,3"

You cannot leave this blank as it says you can. Once I filled in the usergroup for my test user, it started working. This is running on 3.8.1

There is a little typo in the "templateedits-robwoelich.com-fbpm.txt" file that comes along with the download.

Since I use a different vbulletin skin I had to manually edit the footer template. Your .txt file says to add "$popuppm" while it has to be "$pmpopup".

Go to your Admin CP and go to the Setting Group "Popup Private Messaging". From there you can set the width and hight of the window along with a few other options.

As for me, I'll have to uninstall until the author can figure out why the screen blanks the second time I try to send a PM. That's a bit tedious.

but i have a question, is it possible that it appears in the controlsbar, too ?
i mean in postbit next to edit, quote etc. i allready added a sendpm button but how do i get it to work with a popup pm by clicking sendpm button ?
any idea ?

I found one problem when this mod is installed. My forum is 3.8.1.
When this mod is enabled and you have welcome PM's turned on, after the user receives their email to click on to activate their account they receive this error.

Fatal error: Call to a member function clean_gpc() on a non-object in /home/********/public_html/includes/class_dm_user.php(2595) : eval()'d code on line 1

Their account still activates but the error above is all they see upon clickin the activation link.
They also never receive the PM.
Once you take the name out (username welcome PM's will come from) out of vbulletin options -> user registration options they can activate with no issues.

I have same issue noted above been trying to find the culprit of the issue (mod) for quite some time finally found it.

To fix the issue you need to do a if statement around a plugin. Since the newpm does not have global $vbulletin value it errors the second the plugin tries to clean the value.

Change Popup PM Postbit Link postbit_display_start:
