I have users that are having a hard time with forum format and are not used to having to look around for post. They are used to yahoo listservs and would like to receive email notificaion form all forums whenever there is a new post. Is there a hack for this? Thanks for the help

They can subscribe to the forums they are interested in. It's under Forum Tools.

They can not get past the home page! they are signing up and then leaving because they just do not understand. They want to participate but cannot figure out how to navigate past one post! I want to help them by allowing them to be subscribed to all forums so they will be notified whenever there is a new thread or post! this is an information intensive forum/site and they would like to receive this info and ask question but do not know how to find it! Thanks for the help.

I suppose you could write a page, that you link to on the home page for new users, that just has a list of forums to subscribe to:

General vBulletin Discussions - subscribe (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&f=111)
Programming Discussions - subscribe (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&f=15)
Modifications Requests (Unpaid) - subscribe (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&f=12)

A page like that with all the links spit out. Then they can go to that page and just scribe to them. Even better would be to make a form with checkboxes.

I have a similar problem with my users. They expect to sit back and be fed emails as they occur. The problem with the vBulletin subscription feature is that emails only go out once per day in a digest format.

I tried the NNTP-Usenet hack but that seems to be broken under 3.7. And I'm not recommending RSS2 feeds because that only sends out the initial post in a thread, not the follow-ups.

It seems "post-to-email pushing " would be a valuable feature for vBulletin.

Oh cool I did not know you could do those pages!! learned something new.

That is an idea. So they would have to subscribe to the forums themeless as has to go to there email. No way to do it from admin and just have all members of one user group subscribed to all forums?. I I think they could figure this out.

I do not know of a way to automatically subscribe all users in a usergroup to a forum.

To subscribe to a forum, you go into the forum and it is in the Forum Tools drop down.

If they subscribe to a parent Forum, will that take care of the Child forums or will they have to subscribe to the child forums as well to get those notifications?

To be honest, I don't know. Try subscribing yourself on your forum and see what happens. I *think* you get the child forums also, but I'm not positive.
