If I leave my forum for anything up to 5 hours I will have at least 50 spam messages.

Registration is enabled and image verification, what else can I do?

How can I delete masses of posts, at the moment I'm just selecting them 25 at a time then deleting them as spam, It's very time consuming.

Two things NoSpam! (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=183329) and One-touch Spam Ban and Cleanup (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=156444).

The first works on 3.7 (you didn't specify what version you're running) and the second works on 3.6. Unfortunately, the coder of the second recommendation died and I don't know if anyone will take up the torch to update the mod for 3.7 and beyond.
