Hi Guys,

I'm looking to purchase vBulletin very soon, and therefore wondered if a couple of things are possible.

1. Pulling data out of the database and using it on bespoke pages, for example, display latest posts on the homepage etc. Like this website does with the vBulletin blogging application (http://www.nfluk.com/blogs).

2. I'm guessin not (but I thought I'd ask anyway). When users create a group, instead of knowing members to invite them to the group, is there a way they can email their friends, promting them to register and join the group?

Would be great if these things are possible.

Thanks,
Andy

1. Yes this is possible.

2. There is no buildin feature for this (AFAIK). They could either manual sent such emails or there might be a modification to automate this.

You could maybe, maybe use an existing invitation modification for this, i know of one that lets members email their friends invitations to join the forum (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=171951) I dont remember if the message is customizable or not, but if it is, they could then include a link to their group.

Thanks for your replies. Have read that in release 3.8 there is going to be more functionality for Social Groups, when do we think this will be released?

If a user logs on the forums, is there a way to use that session, so they could perhaps comment on pages I put up, or register for newsletters? Is there a function so you can email all your members anyway - if so how customisable is this?

Sorry for all the questions, think this is easily the best solution for my needs, but want to make sure before buying.

When vB is talking about the social groups, they are talking about these.

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/group.php

the new profiles have comments setup, there are a few comment mods here on the Org.

you can email all the users from the admincp very easily

cheers
