Im assuming you mean with the different categories?
When your setting up a new forum
Forum manager>add new forum>Posting Options>act as forum you want to select NO and it will act as a category rather than a actual forum, then when selecting the forums to go in it you choose the category you made as "Parent Forum"
I hope that made sense:)

I followed up until when you said act as forum = no..
I know how to setup a forum under parent, but they are not coming us as they
are on the link above, instead my forums are created as a straight shot down, and not like the ones created on DP.
then I got lost after that...

Look how the sub-categories are setup in the link in my first post..
not the category itself, but how to setup the sub-forum to a category.
That is what I need to know...how do i setup sub-categories

Hi Onehost,
Try this ...
Go to admincp --> Forums & Moderators --> Add new forum --> Put the title in for your category --> Go down the same page to posting options section, and then tick "Act as a forum" to "NO".
Tis will set up a main category for a specific section. Once you get each parent category set up, then simple go back into the "Add new forum" section, and add each sub forum to the specified parent category.
Hope this helps ...

for some reason it is not coming out the way I want it to look as shown on the first post, first link...
I setup catagory...
Test > Main Category
Forum Link > Test
Sub-Forum > Test2
I have to click on forum link just to see the sub forum link which is not what I see on the
DP link listed on the first page....
Google (86 Viewing)
THE search engine. This is for discussion about Google as a company, not for discussion of individual sites (SEO, PageRank for a site or "why a site ranks where it does" questions) or Google search results.
Sub-Forums: AdSense, AdWords, Sitemaps, Google APIs, Product Search
This is how it should look, as I said before, I have to click on the forum link before I can even see any sub-forums, I want it all to show on the front page.

Onehost,
Can you PM me the URL to your forum so I can see what you have showing?
From what you are saying, it sounds like you want a category, then forum, the sub.
I'm sorry, but the directions I gave you above is just for setting up category, then sub.
Try theis ...
Go to admincp --> Forums & Moderators --> Add new forum --> Put the title in for your category --> Go down the same page to posting options section, and then tick "Act as a forum" to "NO".
This will set up a main category for a specific section. Once you get each parent category set up, then simply go back into the "Add new forum" section, and add each a forum to the specified parent category.
The do the same exact thing, but use the forum you just set up as the parent instead of the category parent.
You should come out to --- Category --- forum --- sub forum if that makes any sense.
Hope this helps ...

Onehost,
I sent you a reply to your PM. Hope hat helps.
the link I sent you shows out all the categories/sub-forums are setup right out of the box...If i setup a forum/subforum on how you explained, then I would be doing what I am already doing..and the would setup no different... I want them to appear like it does on DP..
This is what it would look like.
Category Main
Category
Sub-forum
I want it to look like:
Category Main
Description: Main Category
Sub-forums: cat1-link, cat2-link, cat3, cat4
If you look at my link and DP link, you will obviously see that I have a default setup...

onehost,
You are obviously missing my point.
I just added a sub to the BST section of my forum and know it works. I am using the default template too, so it should work for you as well.
You have to make that forum or sub forum above the one you want to create the "parent" forum, to come up with this
Cat
Cat1
sub.
Set up main Cat, then use "Cat1" as the parent for "sub", etc ...
I don't know how I can explain it any differently.
It's about what forum you use as a parent. You can set that right up on your admincp> Forums and Moderators> Add new forum -- The fifth box down labeled "Parent Forum".
There's a dropdaown window showing the list of your forums. You have to highlight the forum you want to use as the parent.

Hey onehost,
Did you ever get this resolved?
I meant to tell you the other day that you can link the sub forums right in the main forum discription section like DP has their's, by using html. It will automatically convert the links.
Say for instance, you set up a BST forum with Freebies, content, services, etc ..., and want to have the links to the subs showing so people can directly click instead of going inside the main forum area.
