Am i right in assuming 3.8 is replacing 3.7.4? as i'd not heard anything about 3.7.4 outsite of the blog announcements

A 3.7.4 will most likely be released with numerous bug fixes as promised under the new update system. 3.8 will receive the updates made under that promise once it goes gold. At least that's how I take it.
