Is there a mod or an easy way to keep the initial post of a thread at the top of all pages of a thread and maybe separate it somehow, like with a table (like a thick horizontal rule) with a solid color?

Thanks

Chief First Post allows you to have the first post on all pages (like in the modification forums here).

What question about order of the posts? Chief First Post will put the first post of the thread at the top of all pages in the thread. I thought that was your question.

oh sorry, I'm posting on 2 different forums.

other question was how to make the posts display as oldest first.

at vbulletin.com they told of how to do an SQL query, however that just updates the forum. Is there a way to globally set this in the options, by editing a template, or through a hack?

Thanks

You are talking having the oldest post display first in the thread? vboptions > user registration options > at the very bottom set it Linear - Oldest First. That will set it to Oldest First for all new users. Other users may change it in the User CP. If you want to override everyone's preferences in their User CP, you may run the automatic query in Maintenance > execute mysql query > Thread Display Mode - Linear and then Maintenance > execute mysql query > oldest first

Of course, I will tell anyone to backup their database prior to doing any sort of mass query on it like this.

Not the threads, the posts themselves. I tried using that setting and it changes the order of the threads, but not the order of the posts inside each thread.

Example: If a thread has 3 pages, in most forums I've been to the newest thread would appear at the bottom of page 3. By default, vBulletin is showing the OLDEST post at the bottom of page 3. How can I change this?

Thanks

The information I posted is in regards to the order of the posts inside of a thread. Like this thread we are currently reading - the display mode is set to Linear - Oldest First so my post is going to be the last post on this page. If you go here - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/profile.php?do=editoptions - you can change that order under Thread Display Options > Thread Display Mode Isn't that what you are talking about?

That's odd. I tried this a bunch of times before including in the user control panel, and it didn't work. This time I tried it and it did. Very odd.

Thanks
