I had a complaint on my forum by a member... they said they were responding to a thread... they took over an hour to write the post. They then clicked the "preview" button and got an error message that said something like "we are not accepting posts at this time"... they then lost their entire post.

From my end the forum is working perfect... what could have caused this problem?

If you have set a "load limit" in the Admin CP, users will be cut off until the load comes down.

Thanks for the reply... I checked the load limit (*NIX Server Load Limit) and it is set to 0 which means it is not being used.

Is there any other reason why those members may have recieved the error message described in my first post? Thank you in advance for any help.

Have you checked your modifications? A default vBulletin doesn't have that phrase.

I may have not quoted the error message perfectly... I talked to the member on the phone (friend of mine)... they said they tried to post... they clicked the "preview" button and the error message said something very close to "we are not accepting new posts at this time".

Today, this same member tried to post the article again... they wrote the article and clicked the 'submit' button, and the post was lost (no error message this time).

I am not having problems on my end, but I would like to track this down. Could this be a VBSEO problem? My forum is here: http://www.true2ourselves.com/forum/

Thanks again for your help.

I was able to duplicate the error on my end... it happens if you remain on the "post reply" interface for a long period of time (about 45 minutes)...

So if you're posting a long response (45 + minutes), and you hit the "preview" post, you will be directed to the user profile page (which is obviously wrong)... if you then click the back button on the browser, you recieve this message:

The phrase is called "forumclosed". It is called (in default vBulletin) if: (i) you disallow posting in that forum, (ii) the forum is a link, or (iii) the forum is set to not be able to contain threads.

Ok, well I am able to post in that area... the forum is not a link, and posting is allowed.

*The problem only occurs if I am sitting in the 'post reply' interface for an extended period of time (1 hour, for example).... any suggestions?

I don't know that you'll like the suggestion, but I'd try disabling your modifications and then creating a default style and browsing the site using it and then try your 'experiment' again and see if you get the same results. Actually, try it just with a totally default style first, that way you can see if it is a style issue.
