what do you mean compatible?
if it's login integration you're looking for, you may as well go with joomla, wordpress, subdreamer, drupal and many others. There are bridgers for those and other cms, but each one has its own limitations and advantages

You can highly customize vBAdvanced to give it whatever look you want right along with easier to manage, native vBulletin support and alot more user friendly.
Wow do i hate joomla and joomla powered sites :D

Joomla is so much better for content management that it isn't even fair to compare them.
However.. the two don't play well together yet.
We do it at SportsInferno.com by having our members managed through our forum.. and leaving the Joomla side open for all to view.
But that will not work for all sites.
