Wordpress linking to Vbulletin content?

Would it be okay to setup a nice wordpress theme for the front page and have posts/pictures linking to the top posts inside the forum?

1) Good for SEO?

2) Would pasting a paragraph from the forum into the blog post be bad because of duplicate content on your site?
