You still use your text name to login, but on the forum it's in image like that, and when you click it you get the drop down menu for visit profile, send message, etc etc.

The forum is (not safe for work, not safe for anyone who gets upset over anything really) http://forums.ytmnsfw.com if you need to visit it (although only a handful of people even have image names)

They can be animated gifs, or still images. Both work.

The admin who added it shows up maybe once a year, and the last time he showed up he didn't answer me, so asking him is pointless.

I've asked about this on vbulletin.com and they told me to come here, stating I needed a mod.

I can't find any threads where the user has his name like that (yeah, I only checked three, but I don't feel like clicking and clicking and clicking).You can use css to use a background image as a background . Maybe that is it? Is it only Moderator who are like that? I'd need to see the page source to say what was done. Do all the users who have their name like that have a different image or the same image? Is it the same image as, say, their profile picture?

They all have different names, and no it's not the same as their profile pictures.

I know it has to be a mod since the vbulletin staff them self told me, but of course they wouldn't give me any hints other than this site. That's what I call $100 service.

If someone said it was a mod, then it probably is, but what more do you want them to tell you? Sometimes I know that something is a Mod cuz I've seen it before, but all I can tell you is that it's a Mod, nothing more.

Well you figure the people who made the software would know a thing or two about modding it. I'll just start asking around on other vbulletin modding forums too, someone's gotta know eventually.

It's very hard for me to tell a thing with just the images you've posted. I mean, it could be as simple as writing a simple plugin to replace (using my name in the postbit here as an example):

http://forums.ytmnsfw.com/showthread.html?t=82337 is a thread with multiple users in it all with image names. Again, not safe for work. Not sure if you meant you can't get anything just from looking at the forum or not but there's that just in case.

Also I can tell you that the users don't set them themselves, the admin was the one who did it. I had a picture name when I posted there and there were no options to set it our self, we'd just post what we wanted and if we were lucky he'd set it.

I mean, I can't really tell what the deal is.... is it done automatically or does the admin get a picture link from you and throw it and your username into photoshop and make a gif just for you? Or, are they randomly made on the fly somehow? I can't tell any of that. All I can tell is that some users have them (not many?). Like I said, it could be as easy as a simple plugin to do, it really depends on the particulars of the whole thing.

You'd make the image you want and ask him to set it for you. That's how I want it. If a user made a picture name and wanted to use it, I'd have to set it myself so I could approve of it first.

That's because they don't like you to bump threads here. From the Global Rules:

- No "Bumping" (Your threads/posts): Please do not repeatedly bump your threads to try and get attention. Most members of the site are not online 24 hours a day and so will not see your post the instant it is made. Do not bump a thread within 24 hours, and not more than twice a week.

- No "Bumping" (Other?s threads/posts): Before replying to a thread, take notice of the last post date. Try and avoid replying to posts more than 6 months old. If you have a similar question and cannot find the answer, create your own thread. Generally speaking, due to the progression of vBulletin development, a post more than 6 months old is more than likely going to be for an older version of vBulletin.

They will only do that if you try to bump a thread before a certain amount of time.
