How do you replace the vB logo (no offence) at the very top of the page, with a pic? I can't find any info on this. Do I need a plugin?

You can either edit the stylevars for your style in the Style Manager and change the path of the old logo to your new logo, or you can just replace the existing image with the new one.

I'm getting frustrated with my inabilities to do this. I have been trying to load smilies, buttons, and images all day. I keep trying the image paths, but it's not working for me. What in the world am I doing wrong. Here's the area I've been in to do this.

Button Images Folder
This is the folder containing all the button images for this style.
The location of this folder can be overridden by a language setting.

When I put in my path, I get little X's on the forum.

How do I fix this??

Please help

If your getting Xs, then it means you've put in the wrong file path. Let's see your site and tell us what folder your respective images are in.

Upload the smilies to your ./images/smilies/ folder.

Then go to your adminCP, and click on SMILIES and then ADD NEW SMILIE. Here you'll have to enter the name , such as "Happy Face" or whatever, and for the file path, you'll have to enter the entire URL, which will be like "http://www.mustangsallyscarclub.com/images/smilies/______"

Try adding a smilie like that and see if it works.

Thanks Chris. I will try that. So I need to load them one at a time? There's a bunch of them. Why can't I load a whole folder of them?

Can anyone tell me what wrong with this? I know I'm doing something wrong.

Title Image
This is the image located in the 'header' template, used as the main logo for your forum.

Here is what I'm using for my image path.
http://www.mustangsallyscarclub.com/index.php/images/misc/logo.gif

I have also tried: images/misc/logo.gif

www.mustangsallycarclub.com/images/misc/logo.gif

I know the file is there, I can see it.

Sally, a couple of things I'm noticing here.

Firstly, revert all your stylevars. You don't really need to change the file paths to achieve what your trying to do.

Secondly, tell me what your trying to do to add new buttons and such to your site, step by step.

Reverted back. There are 3 thing I want to accomplish, all 3 are related. 1st. Change the Header. 2nd, I want to color key the buttons. 3rd, I want to add additional smilies.

To add the images, I downloaded the images I liked from vB.org. I then unzipped them then uploaded them via FTP to images/misc for my logo, images/buttons (first I created a new folder for them under normal buttons) for buttons, and Same for the smilies. I have been trying to load then into StyleVars, unsucsessfully. I know this has to be more basic than what I'm doing.

So what am I doing wrong Jedi Master? There is a ripple in the force.

Heheh, I believe I see your mistake young padawan.

I think part of the problem your having is your creating subfolders in your existing images folder. You can't do that. What you have to do is replace all the existing images in each folder with your new images. For example, if the stylevars for Buttons is images/buttons, then it's going to look for the images in that folder's root. It will not look for any images in folders within the buttons folder. You need to overwrite the existing images in each folder with your new ones. Same for your logo. Overwrite the existing image with your new one and change nothing in the stylvars in the Admin CP. Later on you can learn how the stylevars work when, say, you want to create new skins in addition to your existing one.

Now, as far as smilies go, they're a little bit different. Yes, you can upload them all at one time, and unlike the images in your stylevars, it doesn't really matter where you put them. But for the sake of consistency (and so you can find them again) you can put them in the images/smilies folder. But uploading them is only the first step. Next, you have to do as Chris was saying and go to your Admin CP >>> Smilies >>> Add New Smilie and import you smilies into any existing Smilie Categories. (You can also create categories of Smilies using the Smilie Manager in that same menu so you can group them by subject.) Then you have to put the path of the folder where your smilies are (in this example it would be images/smilies) and you'll be taken to a screen where you approve each smiley for import. You can import a whole bunch of smilies from one folder, or you can add them one at a time, depending on which option in the New Smilies screen you use.
