what happens when a site no longer exists?

i want to buy the inferno shoutbox pro for my site but the site http://www.infernotechnologies.net is no longer working so what happens? where can i buy the code from does anyone know ?

My guess is:

Support pretty much vanishes, updates vanish with it, but the mod itself keeps working. Don't ask me how to get any mods where the websites they're based at don't exist any more, but you might be able to contact the author and ask for it.
