Make HTML appear as text?

I'm trying to put in a scroll down box with an HTML code for my sites banner, but I can't make the HTML code appear in text. How do I make it show up as text so people can copy and paste it? I've googled and googled..no luck! lol

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but the answer may be that you replace the characters in the code with the corresponding character entity thingies (whatever they are called). So, instead of a "<", you would put in "&lt;" and instead of ">" you would put in "&gt;" etc.
