Is there any way to mass copy threads and posts from one forum to others?? Or copy the entire forum to another?
Thanks

Yes, that's what the little checkboxes are for when you are inside of a forum area. Highlight all the threads you want to move by click on checkboxes and then using the moderation tools down below.

you wouldn't believe the amount of people who have asked this, inc myself, it seems that it goes unanswered every single time, you would think this function would be default for VBulletin????
so a suppose the answer is no, there is no way :-((

Well, you could potentially double, triple, quadruple your post count if you "copied" threads from one forum area to another.
Why not just move them??
(Just wondering.)

example why this is needed :
someone has a permission based forum where in order to access the Premium material within it you have to subscribe, when the material is decided to be not premium anymore ( updated material may be available) then these threads are copied to a forum with no permission so the original is where it was posted and we are making it readily available, for free, to users in order for them to see the material we had as premium and they will get sooner than normal if they subscribe??
Hope that makes sense LOL
p.s this would only be for administrators to use, it wouldn't matter about my post count as i could make that what i wanted anyway, if i choose too.....

Moving the thread to a new forum and leave a redirect would be the best solution. You don't want to duplicate the content.

Global announcements do not duplicate data. There is only 1 version of the data, but it is displayed on multiple locations.

No, there is currently no way to mass copy threads in the default vbulletin code.

I wish people spent a little more time thinking this through. Lets say you copy the thread: now do we add another reference to that thread from the original poster or will it just be an orphan now. You should rename the thread prefixing it with "duplicate" or it's going to be difficult to determine the master thread. Now you have two threads with the same content. Are you going to synchronize them continuously or are they now just two separate threads with almost the same content, because if the threads are currently open more content could be added. The only thing I can see is to duplicate the "CLOSED" thread and call it an archive with the prefix 'Duplicate'.
Oh I get it... It would be nice to have a backup copy. I went though the same thinking until I really started thinking about it...
The way I handle it in the large board I oversee: The board rules state that all content belongs to the board. You can soft delete the post under your username, but if we find it valuable, then we will re-post it as an anonymous user to the same thread, same post number -- another words we just change the post's owner.
@Marco in post #9 had it right: Do a redirect and call it a day.
If someone really has a solution to all this and has really thought it through, you can contact me and I would entertain writing a mod for it. At the current time I cannot find any logic for doing it. Anyway, I hope this helps the debate in some small bit. I wrote this at 4:00 am on a plane, I hope it makes sense. :)
