You can change the message in the Admin CP (under vBulletin Options).

vboptions > Turn Your vBulletin On and Off > Reason For Turning Forum Off > put in what you want it to say using valid html, then hit Save.

OK. You can put whatever you want in there as long as it is valid html. (Although, I have never tried to put ads in there, but I can't think why you would not be able to.)

I cannot get you any ads or a sponsor for your forum.

Why do you want to put ads in your Maintenance Message anyway? Usually boards are just temporarily down so you just want to tell them you will be right back.

You can put HTML in the closed message, so you can show any image/banner/ad you want.
