Why are general threads closed when vbulletin related threads (which is specifically not allowed) are left open.? It's a valid question danny.

If you see a thread in the community lounge that doesn't belong, please report it. That's been the policy for ages. I gave my reason for closing the particular thread you are concerned about - if you feel it was not warranted, you could PM and discuss it with me.

The last time i reported vbulletin related threads in the community lounge two of my graphic submissions where removed from the image database because a staff member obviously didn't want them removed.

There are numerous vbulletin related threads in the community lounge which shouldn't be there yet you overlook this intentially whilst closing down threads which should remain opened in the genral lounge area.

You don't need me to report them when your capable of removing the threads/closing or otherwise.

I'm sorry, but vBulletin related threads in the Community Lounge are the least of my worries as an Administrator. If you see a new thread posted that doesn't belong in a certain forum, report it - and we will appreciate it.

I'll tell you straight forward that we are not, however, going to go through the entire Community Lounge and weed out all of the threads that do not belong there. It's a waste of time.

We work with what is reported or what we see personally with just generally browsing the community. Mostly, it is the former that catches our attention.

And people need to stop taking it personally when a thread is closed...am I expecting too much? We are all forum administrators here.

If you feel a thread was closed unjustly, please PM one of the Administrators. I can't reiterate this enough. Things will work out much more smoothly than the other approach which seems to be calling the entire staff a bunch of esoteric egoists, when we in fact care about this community more than most people imagine.

the point of reporting them is not to make them closed (ok, not all the time) but sometimes is to point out to the administration that there is a situation which can degenerate into flaming or fight in the community...

i'm one to report these threads when things are going too far, even when i post my comments differently in the thread itself... (like the one who make you question Danny)...

as people know, i'm not a moderator... the only moderation i can do is to evaluate if what i read is a threat to the peace here or is something that break the rules (advertisement, hacking, etc)... when i can not post anything in the thread because it would cause me a warning [ya know="You are not a moderator!"] ... i click the report button, and i give my point of view, sometimes i even do it with love (when i know who will read the report!)...

 thanks for the 30 danny your now my fav admin though this may change. Anyway, you have 3 reported threads to work with now and i'm not asking you to weed out old threads simply asking you and co to lighten up a little and allow threads to progress instead of jumping on them like a bunch of vultures.

Ps. I know you reported them already nexy you didn't need to say.

That's a little out of order gio. A kick up the arse perhaps, a smacked botty for danny or a pair of handcuffs for marco so he cannot close threads like they are running out of fashion but you shouldn't wish that on anyone.

Anyway, I'd kind of like this thread to remain open to complain about the threads I reported that still remain opened which always get overlooked by staff.

actually, Shelley, Gio stated that the comment made him die... (/me dies à la msn!)

All of your reported threads have been handled, Shelley. Just because they weren't closed or moved like you may have intended doesn't mean they are overlooked....

So your now allowing vbulletin related threads in the general lounge area? Or are the threads that have remained opened alowed to remain opened because staff have posted in the respected thread?

Not trying to create a fuss, but most generalized threads are always closed because (as you stated) are "potentially threads that could get out of hand". yet your allowing this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=190143) to remain. okay it's now on the second page, but rules are rules and it seems (like in my thread that got deleted) that your allowing threads to remain in an area where vbulletin talk is strictly prohibited. I'm just merely point out the facts Danny. One rule for some and closed thread for others.

My apoligies Gio. :)

As the one who has looked at several, staff discussions have already occurred on them.

That thread isn't about vBulletin, it's about our community if anything. Nor is the thread become out of line...

I'm closing this thread the original query has been answered and to summarize that again - if you feel a thread is closed unjustly, contact the staff via PM.

And further, don't spam the report system - if you report a thread once, you can assume it will be evaluated by staff. No reported threads/posts are ignored, ever.
