No Spam Human Verifier

Is anyone else having an issue with the no spam 'captcha' control? Users are complaining that it is not right and too hard to get past. I tried it myself and after 16 attempts at the character phrase have concluded that something is not quite right. I really wonder how many new users are being turned away.

If anyone else has experienced this and fixed the issue please let me know how that was done.
