Hey Guys,

There's been a recent surge of phishing links on my forum recently in PMs and the likes where the user sees a link, clicks on it but it takes them to elsewhere becuase the person has taken advantage of the fact you can just do http://forum.com/showthread.php?p=37373 (flaps.com) for example.

So I was looking into making a confirmation box but I cant for the life of me work out how to edit existing (non-custom) bbcode.

help? :P

thanks!

I have no idea what you're asking. A box to confirm what? Members have to click a confirm box everytime they click a link? What a PITA.

Why don't you just concentrate on getting rid of your spammers? If it's members doing this to be funny, infract them.

yes but as I previously said - its being done through the PM system and as you know, moderators cant look over that...only admins can with a modification which we do but there are times when the admins are afk

Its actually users signing up and spoofing a real link to take them to a clone of our forum to try and phish their user details, as a large forum we need to do what we can to protect our users details as Im sure you understand.

Two suggestions (though I know nothing of your board):
1) Don't bother using CAPTCHA for registrations; it's been cracked for a long time. Use a good question instead.

2) Use one of the mods that disallow new users from doing things (like PMs) until they have x posts.
