Hi,

I am planning to use the Paid Subscription feature of vbulletin but I cannot find any documentation that allows me to setup the subscriptions so that users can upgrade from one level to another.

For example, a user can purchases a Gold subscription for say $17/month but later they can upgrade to a Platinum subscription at $27/month.

How would I go about configuring this?

Thanks,

John

You can do this by setting up the paid subscriptions. Next you can set in the Subscription permissions which usergroups can purchase this subscription.

Aha, ok thanks Marco... but the question is, how do I can cancel the user's first subscription when they move to the better one? Is there a way to do that via vbulletin or does the user have to go into their paypal and do it themselves?

You should make an "Upgrade" subscription only to be used if someone is already in the Gold usergroup.

Thanks Marko, could you please elaborate on what you mean?

So I would have :

* Gold Subscription at $17/m
* Gold Upgrade to Platinum at Gold subscription of $17/m +$10/m
* Platinum Subscription at $27/m?

Could you please explain how I can do this or point me to some documentation?

Thank you in advance,

John

Purchasable by usergroup "Registered Users":

- Gold, 17/m, new usergroup "Gold Members"
- Platinum, 27/m, new usergroup "Platinum Members"

Purchasable by usergroup "Gold Members":
- Upgrade to Platinum, 10/m, new usergroup "Platinum Members"

Aha, silly me. Thanks very much Marko! I really appreciate it.

I have a couple of more questions for you if you are in the mood :).

1. I could not find any information about cancellation of a subscription. Is this at the sole responsibility of the customer? (to go into paypal and cancel subscription)?

2. With downgrading of a subscription I suppose they would have to cancel the subscription then purchase the cheaper version?

Thank you very much,

John

I'm pretty sure yor assumptions above are correct- the user would have to cancel their subscription manually before upgrading, or it would need to expire. Not a perfect solution, but gets the job done...
