Hi guys I do have another site that apparently is having security problems, allow me to explain:
Since this morning every time you try to open a new threat or reply a popup will appear and ask you for a login/password, when you cancel that thing a page will promp with this message:

401 Error - Unauthorized
HTTP Error 401.5 - Unauthorized: Authorization failed by an ISAPI/CGI application.

I haven't done anything on my server CP (I never touch that) and I don't think there's any option I could have screwed on the CP that will lead to that error, I'm pretty familiar with vbulletin Admin CP and I have not done anything weird or out of the ordinary, probably a couple of banned users and not much else.

The popup is the kind that appears in those security sites when the admin will allow permissions to only certain people to see his work, lets said, and mine appears inside the forum you being logged in as an Admin, go figure!. I haven't done anything that can lead to that, last night it was perfect, this morning that thing started to show up. I dont have to say that nobody can post or do anything on the site.

Any ideas?.

I will much appreciated your help bc the site is close and I'm getting nuts. ;)

You might want to talk to your host about this. Googling this leads me to it possibly being related to hosting asp pages. Do you have any of those? Do a google on it and read up on it.

Mmmmmmm, yes Lynne, that was my first though and I ticketed my hosting company (ixwebhosting) but no answer so far. But vbulletin is php right?.

My questions are kind of silly b/c I'm not a programmer or such.

Thanks. :)

Your image looks like a basic password protected pop-up - an htaccess one. Are you sure you have done nothing lately to an .htaccess file or clicked on anything in cPanel relating to password protecting directories?

Not that I can recall of, I usually click on the same places (member related issues mostly) on the Admin CP. The hosting CP well, I never go there b/c I don't want to screwd something there. If on the Admin CP, where can be wrong or where?. Thanks guys for your help!.

You mean on my hosting CP? They probably did something but I'm sorry to say that I'm blind on that matter, I don't know how to do anything there, I don't even know where to start. Just Today I was looking on my Hosting CP to see if I could find anything close to hsaccess and no such luck, they are three websites on my account, one is not working yet, the other one vbulletin working perfectly and this one with this weird problem, the websites has a dedicated IP, is not a reseller hosting plan though. If something they did it b/c I never enter to my CP. Oh gosh, I'm really frustrated. :(

PS. If someone knows how to get the Spanish language package/set please enlighted me, I have being looking for so long w/o any luck.

yes from your host control panel all that is, its a directory protection you might as well put in a support to your hosting company..no one can help you on that here its a server issue

.htaccess will be a file you can see when connecting to your server using an FTP client. (The thing you most likely used to upload the files).

Opserty will you (or someone else) be a little more specific?. I haven't seen that file and the hosting company is not answering my tickets, aparently are working on it but I have 0 information, in the meantime my site is screwed.

If someone is in disposition to help me out I can provide w/ the site, admin password, hosting CP etc, this is driving me nuts because I feel hopeless.

Thanks guys.

ftp to your site. Go to your admincp folder in your forums folder. Is there a file with the name .htaccess in there?

I will check there but the weirdess thing happened. I noticed I was connected to the FTP since the day the problem started to happened (2 days ago) for some reason I didn't close the communication. Today at the moment I closed it the site started to work just fine, the security popup dissapeared. Any possible explanation?.

I have no idea since my site doesn't do this if I leave the ftp connection open.
