View Full Version : Is there anyway to define a search for x.x.x versions?

It would be really helpful if we could make searches for posts containing version numbers. It doesn't seem to work otherwise. Why is it useful? Because sometimes you need to search to see if an existing mod works with your current version of vBulletin, and sometimes the only time you can find this is by searching within the posts which could be over 40 pages long sometimes.
It would certainly make it easier to find out version information without asking the same question twice...for example, asking if something is still compatible with 3.6.x or 3.5.x, etc.
Also, it would be nice if the search word limit could be at least lowered to 3 letters...there's alot of words out there that are only three letters.
Just a suggestion.

Each major version already has it's own subforum that you can search.

No offense meant, but your response is totally missing the point of my post. Often times some mods will work on more than one version, and that's what I'm talking about specifically. Being able to search specifically for that within the topic or mod itself....that's what I'm talking about.
I'm a bit naff, but not THAT naff. :D
Thanks anyways.

If a coder wants to provide information on additional version on which his moidifcation does work, he can always add this to his first post of the release thread.

I don't get why the version section of the modification first post doesn't seem to do anything of use, so why can't that be attached to a search for said version number? Like Advanced Search having a menu to search for a specific version, like 3.7.2 or something, or 3.7.0 or what not.

I know this is sorta an old post, but I still think it would be a great idea. Sometimes there's general discussion within the normal threads that would really make it nice to be able to search for specific items of interest for your version number.

The version number is just a guide - not really useful for searching on. Very often its simply left as the default when the mod thread is created. Also, if, for example, you search for 3.8.0, you would miss loads of mods set to 3.8.1, which work perfectly well on 3.8.0.
