View Full Version : Integrating VBulletin with news/comments

I was wondering if this was possible with VBulletin. The way I have my site setup now is, everything is proprietary for how the news and comments work. The thing is, my forum has really started to take off, and a lot of people want to be able to talk about news, and have it cross post on the forums as well as the front page. I like this idea, but I don't want to have to re-engineer the entire site.

The ideal situation would be that I could just pull the news and comments from a DB, and display the text in the format I currently have it. I don't think that's necessarily possible, though, unless there's a way to select the most recent threads in order from a forum, and then break down each thread into posts, display the first post as the news post, and the replies as comments. That would be easiest, and a dream come true if possible. Aside from that, I'm stumped, so if anyone else can lend a hand I'd really appreciate it.

My site is http://www.playitreviewit.com if you want to take a look, and the forums are at /forums.

Thanks

Thats entirely possible but whether someone will lend you a hand I don't know. You may want to look at hiring someone to do it for you if you don't have any knowledge to undertake the task yourself.

There has to be another way to do this, isn't there?

Vbdrupal does this by default with their news engine however honestly I would just show a link to the forum with the comments.

Well, I found this site called http://triplechat.com and they do exactly what I want to do, but using VBridge which I guess is a Wordpress plugin. I'm just feeling like there has to be a way. What about using VBadvanced?

Wouldn't vbadvanced be a good solution to this? http://vbadvanced.com
