I have seen several management programs for owners of vBulletin where when a user goes to a forums...the first page that comes up is an overview of the latest topics, and the hottest topics, etc.
vbPortal is a more recent one I saw on www.djchat.com
I would like a system like this, but would also like to know if there are others that may be better, in your opinion.
Assistance on this is very welcome. ;)
Thank you,
Gonzo

If your site is just a forum and nothing more, is there a point in having a homepage with a run down of latest / hottest topics? Latest / Hottest topics can be featured on the forum index page just the same, and it's a lot less complicated for the front end user.
If your site is.. an actual website with content, articles, etc. that just so happens to have a forum as well, then I could see a use for a homepage. In that case, I wouldn't use any "portal" system, and I would either tie vBulletin into a cms, or code a custom one.
In the cms case, I would use Drupal (http://www.drupal.org).

Thank you for your response and I'm very sorry for not responding sooner.
My website is at: www.f-bodyhideout.com (http://www.f-bodyhideout.com)
Yes, I have a website with content....though I've not updated it in a while due to my DJing business. It's been keeping me very busy and away from updating content.
This is a reason as well why I was looking into a software program that I can run where I can assign other people to login and update content of the front page of the portal or whatever the name would be called.
I will check out the link you provided.
Knowing the above now...you still recommend Drupal?
Thank you again for your help.
