New thread control system?

Hello,

Our forum is being spammed lately by some competitive forum and a bunch bored kids , we are filled every day with new users that just come to spam our forum .
Of course we ban and delete them once we identify the spammer .
I don’t want to close the registration .

Is there a thread control for new users that will help me identify the new users ? I want an option ( just for new users) that
I will approve only messages for new users that have less the 10 messages , after that we can let them write in the forum without a problem.

Implementing an option like that will take care of 99% of the spammers . is it possible ???

Set up a usergroup with the same permissions as registered users. Use "Move/Prune Users" to move all users from the existing "registered users" group to the new usergroup.

Then for the registered users usergroup set post to be moderated. Then setup a Usergroup Promotion to move users from Registered Users to the new usergroup you've created.
