Hey guys, I've just set up a vbulletin board at www.halftimebovril.com and i'm just looking for some opinions and areas that i should maybe consider expanding. Basically it is a site for football but more specifically Scottish Football.

It is not a bad looking forum
I am not a big fan of vBadvanced as I think that sometimes when a guest opens your site they are not aware that you have a forum and if that is the whole basis of you site then you might just loose some potential members as the first few seconds when someone opens your site decides whether they will stay or not.
With your Header, I like the image that you have chosen as it suits your site but I think that the poor photoshoping of it ruins it a bit.
Why not just use the original image and add your site name as text or you could place just your logo like you have it there, but spend a bit more time making it a bit better
These are only small things but I think they make a difference.
On you board I think that you should reduce some of your forums into subforums until you get some more content. It will look better and you wont have any forums without out posts showing on the home page.
Good luck

Thanks for the feedback dadoc, i quite like having the vbadvanced though as i can show the RSS feeds on the main page keeping it up to date with the latest news (which i'm hoping might spark some interest).
I agree with my header though i'll have a look into making it a bit better as it was done in about 5 minutes (and looks it :P).
I'll have a look into the sub forums as well as i do think its needed to make it look a bit more active.
Anyway thanks again Dadoc!

To me, the forum header actually looks really nice, and suits the theme. Forum listing wise, you may need to post a bit more in some of the forums, as while they don't look so dead any more, it looks like three quarters of the site activity is revolving around one or two of the forums while the rest are just left unused. My suggestions now are mainly:
Have some football related forum icons instead of these to match the other images:

Add some football related smilies, as there are some out there, and they'd be better than just keeping the default smilies like you've kept now.
Might want some custom BB code. Not sure what, but if there's any major football resources, sites or video sites, BB code for them would be a really nice idea.
You've got some avatars, but I think you should add some football ones (players etc) to the default selection, just in my opinion.
