Wouldn' t it be better to move posts you like to delete to that certain forum right away?

If you move soft deleted posts to that certain forum, I see the problem, that the posts have not been visible after deletion, but after this mod did its work, they suddenly reappear.

Yes, edit the Scheduled Task. Go to Admin CP -> Scheduled Tasks -> Scheduled Task Manager -> Delete Soft Deleted Posts -> After that, edit your choice

Hello,

I liked the idea, but there is one conceptual "error" about your mod.

It runs every 30 days (23:00 of day 1) and deletes ALL soft deleted posts. This means that if I soft deleted a message on the 30th of the month, it will be deleted on the following day, i.e. just 1 day after being soft deleted.

I believe that the best way to run this script would be to run it every day and delete all soft deleted posts that are older than 30 days or any other configurable timeframe.

So all soft deleted posts would be available on our forums for 30 days.

I changed the code and attached it to this thread if you want this script to behave the way I describe. Besides replacing deletsoftpost.php you need to change the schedule job to run every day instead of running every 1st of the month.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Gabriel.

is there a trick to this Hack ...

I went to scheduled task and ran it because I have a few posts that are soft deleted by my mods cause I wanted to test ... didn't delete them

It should work with vB 4.

Another issue I found with this hack is that it doesn't remove the deletion data from the "deletionlog" table. So for every post that is removed with this hack, there will be an additional entry left over in the "deletionlog" table resulting it lots of orphaned data that will just accumulate over and over again.
