If I added more post icons to my system/forum, is there anyway to control how many appear?
For example with smilies we can have a million if we want and there is a setting that says how many to appear, with a box saying more. If you had like whatever...59 post icons would it do the same thing, or can it do the same thing? Like random with control over display order like with smilies.
I only ask because I imagine if you did have 59, using our example you wouldn't want them all to load on the post reply page as that would slow the load time down due to so many images.
If not possible, I'm guessing custom coding to make it do that?
thanks,
LoA

I'm sure these posts will merge.
I looked in the admin cp and see I can control display order and such but I don't see the choice for how many appear on the post reply screen.
I wonder if I can put them in different categories and then they'll be in drop down menus or something. I dunno.
EDIT: I did a test and I think we have an addon that helps us with this. I'm good thanks.

No problem.
I didn't even look when I had asked the question, never ever thought about changing them, but the more I look at the amount of graphics we have the more I just thought it best to change them to PNG as well. Might as well be consistent I guess...
Anyways the Categories work fine and only the first one is open when you post reply so that's cool. I went with 25 x 25 pixels, again designing based upon the likelihood of people using bigger monitors.
The system to answer my own question works exactly like the smilie system which is great.
Here are some screenshots of all of them, except the journal forum one's, those only go in the journal forum and no where else.

Hey could you tell me how you did that? I'd love to add that code to my board!

Hey VikesRule,
I hope you mean Minnesota Vikings, but even if you meant the old Vikings of centuries gone by they were cool to. Vikings are my fav NFL team.
Anyways the system is set up to make additional post icon categories located in your Admin CP > Post Icon Manager
Even if you make "X" amount of categories only the top category or display order 1 will appear open. Meaning on my forum when I added the one's that I did, it looks like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/scorpion_666/PIex.png
Notice only the top set of Post Icons are open?
That's because it's designed to only have the top one be open. I found this out by going into another forum where we've restricted one set of post icons to one forum only. If anything, restricting Post Icons to a certain forum is a modification here, if you'd like that let me know and I'll try to dig it up.
Otherwise everything you need is naturally in the Admin CP to add more post icons. As far as the images themselves, there are no template or php file changes you need to make, you can upload whatever images you want. I just used large png's because more and more people use bigger monitors these days including myself.
If I've not answered your question, please clarify further what I can help you with.
peace,
loa

The only modification we use for Post Icons is not available for download anymore.
Basically what it does is allow us to place Post Icons only in specific forums. Meaning:
Post Icon Forum Permissions
I could export the product for you, but I don't know if it will work without other php or xml files.
I hope you found what you wanted though, if not let me know.
