Hello,

I have a Vb forum on a VPS.Its has 20 GB harddisk, 500 GB bandwidth transfer & 512 MB RAM.Uptill now i have used 3.5 GB space and around 60-80 GB bandwidth per month.Daily around 1.5-2k visitors visit the site. But the site remains down for most of the time.

The officials say that :

Your website is really heavy. It cause the server to crash every now and then. I'd suggest you upgrade to a dedicated server.I cant understand how to decrease the load on servers.

Please anyone can tell me how to reduce the load on server as i think that the site is now using high resources which according to its present situation is very high.

You didn't mention which modifications you have installed. Some modifications are server intensive and could cause problems on sites (many chat mods for instance).

actually, your site "masalaboard" is filled with banners, images, and redirects... this is far from being the best solution when you want to have a light site...

drop all the advertisement, your site will load faster and your html codes will be smaller to download and cut some bandwidth too... also, remember that it is not always because your site is heavy but because the connection between your visitors and the website... if because of all your banners the connection is not closed, the server usage will raise... that's what i faced when i visited your site...

I tried those links to. I got stuck on the second link (Celebrity Photos) with a message about an unresponsive javascipt. It took half a minute of stalling my browser before it gave me that message which I then said to just stop the script. It then loaded fine. All your images/banners/attachments/sig images will slow it down. Those things are server intensive.

Oh Ok i understood what you meant nexia but without ads a site cant earn :(

I am just able to cover the hosting cost with that ads and without them it would be difficult to run the site :(

Isn't there any solution between the two :)

maybe upgrading the ram to 1-2 gb would solve the problem?

Between going from the main page to the forums I got hit with over 20 different ads. This is overkill. If you need to run 20 different ads just to pay for your site then its time to rethink your whole site.

These ad scripts and whatever else u may be running are going to wreck your server.

You are doing something wrong then if you have 20 banner ads on one page and it barely pays for your site. Also you can use small file size static images for banners rather then the crap that is there.

P.S. pop up's are the biggest turn off to any site as well.

The bottom line is your site has major problems and it has nothing to do with vBulletin, it's crap coding and formatting of your site that is your problem.

I can't imagine anyone returning to that site more then once and that was once too many.
