At the moment when i do a search on my forum it doesn't automatically search Tags. Is it possible to include the Tags in the standard search?

e.g.

A normal search for kr_12.vbs returns no results
A Tag search for kr_12.vbs returns the relevant thread

I haven't seen anything like that. But tags were only added with 3.7, so they're still new. I would imagine, especially with the mods that will automatically tag old threads, this option would be nice to have, maybe as a checkbox.

I've looked at this further and can't find anything, does anyone know if it is yet possible to include searching the Tags in the standard search?

Standard search would be for thread titles and posts containing the content you type in.

Tag system is different. To get what you want to do would be a mod, i never seen that here.

At least as of 4.02 you can search for tags separately. But without some way to add tags automatically the whole system is useless. My members aren't about to take the time to add tags manually.

Adding tags automatically is really no different then searching titles or whole posts then because there's no 'new' information generated by auto-tagging.

Could anyone tell what is the utility of putting tags to threads? Maybe for search engines?

But it takes a lot of work to think about tags as you make a post. I've tried to add them to my stickys, but without an integrated search I don't know that they help.

Thanks. My concern is for the users who find the tag box to fill, wonder what it is for and why are they supposed to do the supplementary work... I've disabled it.

This is a critical feature for my forums. We have the option to do a regular search, and a tag search - how hard could it be to include the 'tag' DB field in the regular search? I'm not an SQL guru so maybe it is hard?
