I have a small request, might be the wrong place but hey ...

As I mentioned I totally sukk at graphics, I can hardly paint a barn.

I took the routemap of London subwaysystem and I think I made it transparent but I might as well just have made it milky....
And I think I made it too big ...etc etc ....

My site's name is insanetrain ... It's a place of idiots and garbage bags.. but not the issue here.

Someone can you please make me a background ???!?!?!
That wont make my site load 6 secs slower then before...

You may need to convert all of the border images to .gif because transparent pngs do not work with IE 6 and lower and sadly many many people use those nasty browsers.

I as well would really like to see a fluid version.

Thanks

MULTI QUOTE buttons need updating
You have the same image for MULTIQUOTE ON & MULTIQUOTE OFF. And its the button from the original vBulletin files so it is out of alignment with your new buttons

And if you're going to customize the buttons, you have to update ALL of them
That would include:
User Online/Offline/Invisible
Infraction
Reputation
Expand/Collapse

I appreciate your efforts. This is currently my favorite style & is the default on my forum.

Spank

I changed the values of the table width. I didn't work when I did as the amount of pixels that I wanted but it worked when i did it as a percentage. I needed to change the width because it was nearly a fluid style.

but now the there's a gap on the right side of the table and doesn't have the shading the left side does.

Hi :)

I am trying to use this Transparencity style on my VBulletin 3.7.2 however I do not see it working. I have followed all instructions to upload and set it (I think) as the default style. I am not seeing any changes

Hi. I downloaded and installed this style, and now all my new members (people who register AFTER installation) are getting missing "security token" error messages. They can sometimes use the board, but the error message keeps popping up. Note that OLD members are not getting them.

I've checked around, and this is apparently not a VB issue, but a style issue.

Has anyone gotten this with this particular style, and how do you resolve it? Thanks, this is a great style, and I would really love to keep using it.

Thanks.

I would caution everyone from installing this if you're running the current version of vbulletin (3.7.2). It is not updated to function with the new vb, and the author has made it very clear that he has no intentions of updating it for you, or even replying to this thread to people requesting his help. The results will be new users getting security token error messages.

Not bad :)

Is it possible to modify the width of the ".page" class that instead of a fixed 1000px width and a background image smaller images are used ?
3 of them in a row, left and right static, in the middle scaled that users won't be forced to have a 1000px width.

Anyway, when a user tries to go into their CP, they get an error something to do with security token...I was able to fix this by adding a test default skin and let the user choose a skin, but I prefer to use only one skin. The reason it won't work in 3.7.3 properly is because it was made for an earlier version. The security token was added after this theme was made.

After looking through this theme, I found that only the CSS, header and footer were actually modified (footer was only for credits).

So here's what I have done. Modified an original vBulletin theme and changed the CSS and header and footer template. Split the 3 images into 3 parts, left, middle, and right for each. Made a table to make it fluid width. Changed the logo to make it look nicer (transparent). Changed the collapse buttons to make them look nicer (transparent) and added variables for them. Changed the quick reply button to the one included in the original package (guess he forgot to change it?). Added the Thanks and Comment button in the buttons folder so you don't have to download them separately and also made a button for vBCredits which is in the button folder (credits.gif). I've also added the tag icon so you don't see a list of tags added to each thread. All the backgrounds should be put into the background folder (images/trans/background/). I've left the yellow one in. I've left the credits out of the footer because it points to a warez web site and I don't think it would be good for everyone else.

Included is all images in a new folder (trans) with the xml. Just upload to images folder (images/trans/) and import the xml.

To change the header, edit the Title Image found in the Image Path settings.
To change the background, edit the Body CSS and change the location to your image.

Im just waiting for the author to get back to me about posting it here

Your work here is highly appreciated. This transparent style has a lot going for it, and for you to step up to the plate and improve it is really commendable. May I ask what the status is regarding this modified theme of yours related to the 3.7.3 standards? I really like what you've done but want to be sure that it is current with the vB protocols vis a vis the 'security token' you mentioned.

Can the opaqueness of the whole skin be set in the style manager? Or is the idea to manually make a background image more transparent? People on my board are complaining of difficulty in reading the forum, even though the background image is a pale blue sky image, so I'm looking for pointers on cutting back on the transparency a bit. I used ade_dnb's "Transparencity +" skin from post #76, by the way.

In the style manager I see this file is the apparent background, so I wonder if I need to render a new image file with less transparency? "images/trans/gradients/gradient_tcat3.png"

That can't be done without changing the images. The image that is used as transparent overlay has a width of 1000px so everyone with the "wrong" resolution will have this problem.

I noticed that since we use the postbit_legacy option on the left-hand side that the thread appears to "zig-zag" a bit on this postbit_legacy's righthand border, based on how much content is in the person's posts. Is there a way to easily alter the template in order to keep a unifomity to the width of the postbit_legacy column?

[Update: Apparently this un-uniform postbit_legacy column is seen in the admin/moderator groups only. Registered users see the column all uniform.]

In the style manager I see this file is the apparent background, so I wonder if I need to render a new image file with less transparency? "images/trans/gradients/gradient_tcat3.png"

I would of thought that you would have to redo the images and make them less transparent. I think theres 9 that you have to do for the main background.

I modified a default 3.7.3 theme.

That can't be done without changing the images. The image that is used as transparent overlay has a width of 1000px so everyone with the "wrong" resolution will have this problem.

I you use my modified version, you won't have this problem.

Can you give a screenshot or demo?

Has any one thought of a way to make the theme flip through a set of images for the background?

Did it myself - just edit the images and reduce the brightness or saturation and for the transparent headers (PNG files) - reduce the brightness as well. :)

The background you can adjust the screen resolution automatically?

Edit the header template and change the CSS for the background. :)

Alright, so I'm a big noob when it comes to this..

See, I've got a portal set up. And when I use it, it shows the style 'transparent' all messed up and all over the place, how can I fix this?

Personally I wouldn't. Its a nice idea but this style has many problems including none of the images work properly with Internet Explorer 6 and done.

Who has created the buttons? Good to know, so that I can ask the Creator to give the files out.

I had asked about something to flip through a set of background images. So...

Tip of the hat to my little buddy Neko :3. It came up that it would be nice if the header changed when you refreshed the browser or when you jumped from page to page. It was his idea so I asked him to go find something that would do the job. The first thing he came back with was a coding nightmare.
But this one is so simple and elegant, That I had to come share it with you guys and gals.

http://forum.tufat.com/showthread.php?t=53769

Only thing I did different is I didn't replace any of the header code but instead I placed this line>

<img src="/path/to/new/folder/rotate.php">

which was changed to the correct directory path, just before any mention of the header image and commented out the code that has the directory path for the stationary image I had been using. Put this at the start of the original code statement <!--
Then this at the end -->
Winds up looking like this <!-- A line of code goes here --> Anything in between gets ignored. Saves whacking up your code.

It's intent was to change the header, which it does rather well. BUT it dawned on me if the img src statement was altered to CSS code it could be used to rotate the background image for this theme. So...
Change this>

<img src="/path/to/new/folder/rotate.php">

to this>

background: url(http://the/ complete/ path/ to/ your/ picture/ folder/rotate.php) fixed;

and park it in the Extra CSS Attributes in the Body controls in the CSS page. Fixed at the end keeps the background pinned down so it doesn't move when you scroll through the forum.

I have to admit, it works rather well. At my place right now, it's pointed at the header folder which has this php file and the header images. So if you come by to look it's repeating like crazy because the images are so small. Just click the browser to get a different image in the background. Check the anime planet theme to see how it works as a header changer. I'll be changing the background images as time permits. This link takes you directly in to the transparencity theme> http://animeappeal.com/forums/index.php?styleid=36
But it works!

I'm sorry for double posting but I think I found a quicker way to get around the vBad cmps issue with the right hand modules running off the side of the page backgroumd. Also cures the racing stripe issue when adjusting the width of the forum past the "out of the box" settings.
The problem>
conteudo_2.png is only 1000px wide by 33px high. When you try to go past that width you get the right border, a small gap, then the left side of the image starts up again. This also creates an issue with the vBad cmps not being able to float out the page background to meet the columns width. Looks like a train wreck.
Down and dirty fix>
In the gradients folder there is another image you can use to replace conteudo_2.png. The gradient_tcat3.png works just fine. It's 233px by 33px. It doesn't have the edge borders but it does the job.
Take the url in the page background standard css setting and reroute it to the gradient_tcat3.png in the gradients folder. Then either comment out all of the extra css attributes or delete them. If you don't you run in to some other issues.
Now to pull in the excess outer edge to mate up with the content border, set > Spacer Size (pixels) < to 1 or 0. If you want to get creative, you can use the CSS border commands to doll up the left and right content borders. They go in the page background extra CSS attributes.

One thing I did notice is on the CMPS that the page background for some odd reason is less transparent than it is in the main forum. I'm looking in to that...
It does run on 3.8.1. You'll have to revert a few templets but it doesn't loose any appearance or functionallity.

Hey thanks. I discovered before I saw your post if you plant a style="background:" , it vanishes altogether. Goes on the same line that has the class="page".
