Post count after deleting posts

On my site we have only a couple threads we use and we delete older posts as the amounts increase. Is there a way we can keep the post count of users even though we have deleted the posts. Keep in mind that I am deleting individual posts and am not pruning.

It may be possible - but I'm not sure if (and how) it would affect the synchronisation of the posts counts as time goes on.
