Everything works fine for me except one thing.
I ran "Delete Auto Tags" maintenance option, then "Auto Tag Threads" maintenance option and when I went to check tags, I found I have duplicated tags in a single thread.
Is there a way to fix this?

You forgot to remove this text from settings:
In order for RSS tagging to work you will have to manually edit one of the default vbulletin files. Please refer to the product page on vBulletin.org for further information.

Well, I checked the readme before and I saw there are threads to be tagged but nothing happened. Also I still get 0 threads in the cron log and there are threads that have to be tagged.
Again, it was tagging before but now it doesn't.

I have no settings or configuration, I did a default install, ensured the ACP options were still set correctly, and it does not work.

Old versions worked 100% perfectly fine with a default install. I do not understand why RSS feeds would stop getting tagged in 1.1 when it (the cron) worked fine before.

All I'm asking for is to post the old versions of the Tagger as one of them worked perfectly fine.

Yes, the gold version and the beta version I can both open in notepad. There are no chunks of corrupted code that stand out. But uploading either product gives the same error.

I attempted to install new products and test overwriting existing ones, both scenarios worked.

All of you are suggested to use this as it fixes two bugs in the CRON file. The first bug is in relation to RSS threads not being tagged at all. This was due to the fact the creator used incorrect syntax to get NULL fields, so no fields would get returned. The second bug prevented threads from being tagged if they were created in a 'wierd' method. What is that? I'm not sure, but I had about 20 threads that weren't tagged but were marked as being tagged, the datelines were spread apart pretty evenly, so I'm assuming the creators of the topics created the threads, they had tags, then those creators for some reason removed their tags manually afterwards. This leaves the thread marked Auto-Tagged, but there are no tags. So now the cron will re-tag these threads. This is all a guess, but who cares, all your tags are belong to me.

For the first part of the NULL I agree, thanks for pointing me to this. It seems it works on some MySQL versions and on some not.

Also there is no mark for already tagged threads. But there is a mark for threads tha cannot be tagged, f.e. because of title containing only bad words or just too short words. This is an attempt to not try to tag these threads every night.
The autoskip option is going to reset to 0 by editing the title.

I will incorporate the changes to the official release if someone can confirm that cron is now working.

Erm, according to my DB, all my threads are 'autoskip = 2' once they're tagged by the CRON Auto-Tagger.

There are two kinds of untagged threads in my DB:

-Threads with NULL as the tag list
-Threads with a blank tag list (this is different then NULL)

-Threads set to NULL have an autoskip value of 0
-Threads that are blank have an autoskip value of 2

For my DB and installation, the above CRON works perfectly fine, and on top of that, tags the RSS feed as it comes in. My two RSS feeds are set to check every 30 minutes, I then edited my CRON to run the RSS script at '00' and '30', and edited the autotag CRON to run at '00' and '30' as well. Then I 'reset' my two RSS feeds and when the clock hit the top of the hour, it checked my RSS feeds, added the topics, and tagged them, all in one go! Been working great all day so far.

Are you sure you uploaded ALL files to the server? Please check the directory structure. Check also if you overwrite files or just skip.

Mysql collation errors are usually when there's a difference between language types of tables. You can enter there UTF, ISO formats etc.

Try googling for mysql cllation errors and take a look into admincp > style which collation do you use (UTF / ISO) and then compare it with collations in database via phpmyadmin > whole database collation and phpmyadmin > table vbull_tag.

For sure, I can incorporate all files as plugins, but every coder should know that this blows up the plugin system unnecessary, espacially if there is so many code that has to be loaded like with this modification. On big boards this makes a huge difference compared to files that are loaded on demand.

Also, please show me the product that is using plugin crons. As far as I know you have to specify a file to execute in that part.

That is something I cannot help you with. Just don't use russian and english words... That error is causing in the vBulletin function called "insert_tags_thread" in file "functions_newpost.php". Auto Thread Tagger is also using such a file.

RSS Feeds are tagged by cron, which is running once a night. You can set the scheduled task to run more than once a night.

I go to scheduled tasks and run the auto-tagger, then I goto Threads & Posts>Tags, and no extra tags have been added, what am I doing wrong?

I install it, and I can tell it works, but the mod's settings don't appear in "vBulletin Options".

Running 3.7.2 PL1, and I am sure mod is installed and enabled, all files uploaded to the right directories.

If I can't get the settings to show, at least tell me how to modify the XML to have this thing automatically turn on.

RSS Feeds are tagged by cron, which is running once a night. You can set the scheduled task to run more than once a night.
I have it set to run every 30 minuets (screen shot) but it still is not tagging my rss bots posts. Any ideas of trouble shooting? What directory would the log be in?

That is something I cannot help you with. Just don't use russian and english words... That error is causing in the vBulletin function called "insert_tags_thread" in file "functions_newpost.php". Auto Thread Tagger is also using such a file.

I don't think this is quite good an advise, not to use russian and english words. I have no control on what my forumers posts.

Is there a possibility that you can make them ignore all characters except english?

I noted this previously. You need to decrease the number of items being worked on at a time. I think I reduced mine to 500 and worked without any problems.

To add to this because I don't think I explained it very well. So, I've got a few prefixes such as Prefix1:, Prefix2: and Prefix3:. They each have a colon after them to distinguish them from the post title for exampkle.....

Now, the Auto Thread Tagger is tagging the prefix as it should but I'd prefer it to tag with the colon on the end. Is it possible to remove this without removing all the colons? Or setting up Prefix1: => Prefix1?

Also noticed that if no prefix is used, it tags "(No Prefix)" which I also think it shouldn't do.

While Google ignores certain words, I am not certain that other search engines might ignore the same words thus putting you at a disadvantage. Also the list changes so you could be at a disadvantage. If I was going to use this sort of list I would only use the one Google publishes.

yes the mod is certainly on but it doesseem to have stalled.

is there a way of emptying the queue as i have a lot of old posts and the only thing i can think of is the queue has filled up with invalid posts for tagging purposes and cannot add any more.

or can i increase the max from 500 up to 5k for a short while so the older threads can be tagged. i am happy to take the performance hit for a short time

I've just hit upon a dodgy symbol in a thread title that has thrown out an error as the tag.

The original title was:

?25 - 15 minute track time.

The auto tag generated for this was:

I immediately added '?'=>'' to the exclusion but that's had no effect. I've tested and no matter where the ? symbol is this error is thrown out as the tag. It also affects, after some testing, the symbols % and ?.

To fix this, we are currently running a mySQL query to remove tags that do not meet this standard with a regex query [^a-zA-Z.]. This is to allow only letters of the alphabet and a period used for abbreviations.

I hope that a similar "words only" option for tags could be built into the mod or, even better, the possibility to block tags based on regex so each webmaster can customize blockage.

Thanks for the reply. I did already have the autotagger_ajax.php uploaded. But just to ensure it wasn't corrupt I have re-uploaded it, over writing the original, and saved the settings for this mod again.

I've just tested again now and still if the following characters are entered in the title the tag box is populated with:

The structure for your product, as kept from the downloaded zip file, is as follows on my server.

I have checked and tripled checked this, as this is how it has been since I installed your product back in the start of August. I've also re-uploaded the files in case of corruption.

I've even un-installed your product, deleted all the files from my server and re-installed again. But still whenever the characters ?, ? or % are entered I get the following error message automatically populated in the tag field.

No, you just didn't copied the files to the right folders. Please PM me a list of all your files in your forum(s) directory, so I can take a look.

Nice module ! Is there a way to remove tags from the Popular Tags module in vBadvanced that are not used anymore ?

I just replaced 'x360'=>'xbox 360' and now if i click on 'x360' tag, i get an "Invalid Tag specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

I also tried using Maintanance - Delete Auto tag and then - Auto tag threads, but the 'x360' is still there. Thx in advance !

Tried it but the problem just moved further, it looks like all threads having a combination of auto-tags and manual tags doesn't work...

After saying yes to "Disable Auto Tag if Tagged?" it started to work though...!!

I'm not sure as I don't understand the message exactly, BUT, I think the problem is:

In Admin CP under "Maintenance":
1. You have run the auto-tagger = "Auto Tag Threads" - "Creates new tags. Please delete old auto tags before you run this."
2. Then run it another time without first running "Delete Auto Tags" - "Deletes all Auto Tags - run this before running auto tagging."

It looks like it is NOT enough to click yes for "Delete Auto Tags" under "Auto Tag Threads".
One must first run the separate job "Delete Auto Tags"...

One thing, especially for a newbie overseeing a forum, which I am, the installation instructions, #1 specifically.
1. Upload all files from "upload" to your server, take care of the directory structure

Sorry, but "take care of the directory structure" tells me nothing. It took reading to post 416 and 420 to find out those two files belong in the includes folder. The functions_autotagger.php was pretty clear since you have it in the includes folder in the download, but the autotagger_ajax.php file is not in that folder which left a big question mark related to "take care of the directory structure" as to where it belonged.

Am still not sure if I've put autotagger.php in the proper folder or not. I have assumed it belongs in the includes/cron folder. Is this correct, or based on your response in post # 420, it also belongs in the includes folder?

I've just noticed when I tried to Automatically Tag all the Threads of my Forum, that on Maintenance -> Upsate Counters I'm having the following Error Message where there is suppose to be the "Delete Auto Tags" and "Auto Tag Threads" Options:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/zzz/public_html/forums/admincp/misc.php(1790) : eval()'d code on line 135

Do you know why this can be caused? or perhaps what I should look to locate what's wrong? :confused:

After installation, I've checked out all configurations, everything about Vb tagging is OK, once I've been using regular tag system a quite long. All options on this mod are also on but when I run the cron it says "concluded" but actualy nothing happens. When I check the tag list I can see only the tags created manually by my users.

What I'm missing ?

Cron/Scheduled Task is not tagging all threads.

I just found the option "Excluded Words" doesn't seem to work if they are tags. I want to include some tags but not all. So I guess the RSS options have some work. It's still a great mod though. I couldn't go without it.

I added words in the "Excluded Words" section but the were all included in the tags--and I meant in my last post the "prefixes", I wanted to include some prefixes but not all. So I added words to the "Excluded Words" section that were prefixes but they were still included.
