Revision: 1.01(XML based Only)

vB iGallery 1.01 (XML based only) requires no database to function
(see V2.02 below for full vBulletin bridge to User Albums)

about:
vB iGallery is an XML based gallery, therefore uses no database queries. It uses Papervision3D (http://papervision3d.org) flash technology, giving you a unique 3D gallery Xperience. Fully tested on default and custom styles, and cross-browser compatible. Coded to work with vBulletin's DHTML menu system, to stop menu's dropping behind the flash object.

This XML version uses it's own album directories - it is not integrated with vBulletin 3.7.x user albums yet. However, this will be done in a future update.

Features
3D Gallery in a virtual world
Controlled by mouse and keyboard
Various Zoom features
Spinning Gallery - mouse controlled
Zoom in/out of gallery globe - mouse or keyboard
Tooltips available on all images
Descriptions show on full image display
Override attributes - we list more soonInstallation
Full installation instructions are provided in Word and PDF formats, within the download package. Easy install requiring uploading of files/folders and one template edit.

User Guides
English and French User Guides available. French translation by Sofia - Many thanks!

Copyright
All images used in the example album have been used with the contributors permission. Please do not remove the copyright in the footer of the gallery page, instructions on removal are in the documentation.

LATEST RELEASE Updated to v2.02 - Package updated.
Main vB iGallery file was a development version. Alignment issues fixed. Multi-line Caption/Description field moved and fixed. Domain issue fixed.

vB iGallery v2.02 (Dynamic bridge to vBulletin 3.7 User Albums)
Download it now, it's bridged to use vBulletin 3.7 User Albums - allowing easy population of iGallery. No XML to edit or to configure. Completely recoded and optimized. FULL documention within download package, in Word and PDF formats.

IMPORTANT (Affects version 2.0 only)
Some users have mentioned images missing from Profiles and Albums after installing this modification, the images have not been deleted they simply require a rebuild. Please do the following after installing this modification.

Go to your AdminCP -> User Albums -> Rebuild Thumbnails then click the 'Rebuild Album Picture Thumbnails' button.
This will fix the thumbnails not showing after installation. User Guides will updated to reflect this issue.

Additional Bonus Background Package (v2.0 & v2.02 ONLY)
5 New backgrounds have been added for you to download - these have been designed using the supplied PSD template within the Tools folder of the vB iGallery v2.02.

AUTOMATIC UPDATE NOTIFICATIONS
If you receive another notification about an update within the past 12 hours, this is auto-generated by vbulletin.org if the main release post is changed. I have made a few changes to this post due to some confusion between the 2 versions available. Please make sure you download the correct version for your forum.

It uses its own albums. There is already requests for this modification to be tied into user albums within 3.7.x - this will be done in a future update.

Looks cool, but what we really need is a flash rateme or "hot or not" like mod. Not for hot or not but i have a tattoo site i'd like members to be able to vote on uploaded pictures in their user profile/album and can mark as allow rating or not (and can set in admin cp if default is set to rate) and of course ignores private pictures. And no i'm too busy to make it my self :)

It can be used with any gallery script really - but obviously requires a 'bridge' for each script. So far requests have been asked for the following:

vBulletin 3.7.x user album system
Photopost Pro
vB CMPS block module or page
Photoplog gallery

These will be made available in an update which will integrate it fully with vBulletin - this would include over 30 variations of the gallery, since there is many attributes that can be overrided from the defaults we have set in this gallery.

Yes... open the vb_igallery.php file and find this line of code:

echo "<td class=\"tcat\" width=\"100%\">vB-iGallery</td>\n";

That will change the header text of the main table header.

As for vBa CMPS - I will look into this because it modification requires non-standard setup compared to most modules. I think the PHP div container will still function, but I will have to check first.

I could change the way that is displayed. Currently its hardcoded into the swf file, but I could make it so that it would import an image with your own text. That is quite simple to do. I'll look into it a little later. :)

I'll make a few changes to this modification in an update. What I'll do is drop all text, (apart from the Copyright) and then allow users to change the background using their own image. This will allow for text, language, logo, background color along with instuctions all to be changed easily.

The height and width is determined by parameters set within the main vb_igallery.php file, however if these are changed at the moment with this version then it will cause images to distort and text to become unreadable. I can redesign the stage (main flash gallery) so it is smaller, but you can still change various parameters to adjust the globe size, etc.

Basically, there is much that can be done with this modification to increase its flexibility and features, I have only documented a few - but I will update this soon to accept more parameters, so its' not so tied just to defaults I have set.

Due to the design, it is possible to change many attributes externally, these include globe glow, colors, camera position, globe shading and many more. What you have with iGallery is a very versatile gallery frontend, and capable of many ways of displaying images. Once I get more time I will document many more features of the iGallery and also make changes to the current one.

At the moment the width is fixed at 900px - this is also the flash stage width. With Flash dimensions have to be set correctly within the compiled source using ActionScript. At the moment this cannot be done with this version without degrading the overall look.

But if you still wish to change the width then here's how. You need to adjust the height porportionally in ratio to the width. If you open up the vb_igallery.php in notepad or any text editor then find this line of attributes:

swfobject.embedSWF(\"vb_igallery.swf\", \"flashContent\", \"900\", \"656\", \"9.0.0\", \"js/expressInstall.swf\", vars, params, attributes );

The width is set within this line of code to 900 with a height of 656 pixels. You would also need to change the flash Div container which uses the following code:

echo "<style>

#flashContent {
height: 656px;
float: center;
}</style>\n";

The igallery will automatically adjust itself back to the center because it is already centered within a div align tag.

I will release a new smaller version closer to the weekend, which will allow for external dimension adjustments.

So, will this feature the integration?

syrus.xl
07-14-2008, 08:56 PM
So, will this feature the integration?

The first update will be mainly tidying up the flash file itself, hence the following will be changed.

Interchangeable Background Image Added
This will allow people to use their own designs for the iGallery, the main purpose will be to replace the current default logo, text, language changes, etc. I will put a few designs together that can be used as templates. PSD files of all templates will be made available for download.

Camera Settings
This will allow users to adjust camera settings within a 3D environment.

Globe Settings
These will be made to allow setting of the iGallery to use external adjustments via the XML, features like glow, color, alpha, turn globe solid or transparent, etc.

Stage Sizing
This will be made fluid for people that have requested this feature as opposed to the large default version currently available.

PHP Attribute Changes
How to change various attributes via PHP - a easy guide to how it all works.

Once all this is complete, then I'll release a new version. The vBulletin integration will take a little longer since it requires additional PHP, XML and template coding - but all settings for the iGallery will be set from within the AdminCP and the installation will be via XML product plugin import.

Syrus.xl I stopped by 2 view your demo and I must say its an outstanding work of art...

Thanks... :)

You'll find my work all over the net - most of it is custom for corporate websites. I do have a few products which I'm hoping to release this year, but these are specialized and I've not seen anyone else do what I'm about to do in flash. ;)

AS 3.0 has allowed features that could never be done before, so really its been a godsend - I know many people think AS3.0 is harder to use with its very different syntax to AS2.0, but it does allow much more to be done.

vB iGallery is basically achieved using the Papervision3D engine, obviously now this will become dynamically populated via PHP, allowing even more versatality to be introduced. 'Bridging' it as a frontend for many gallery scripts, will make it very popular by the requests I've received so far.

well if you have broke it and by that i think you mean the pics etc then reload the vbi_images folder and overwrite then you will be back to square one in relation to images.

You will have to resize (if not at the size already) your wanted images then upload them to the folder.

Then resize and upload your desired thumbs for those images and upload to the folder.

syrus.xl

With this initial release that is correct. This will be changed when I update it to a full vBulletin integration, with many new features available. It will become a product XML import and will display images directly from vBulleti's 3.7 user albums, if selected. There will be other 'bridges' for Photopost pro, photoplog, and a few others that can be used.

Basically, this first release was just a standard non-database use release, and all images defined within the XML file. With future updates this will be totally changed, and everything will become easier to use.

Login to your AdminCP and scroll down the left column to Styles & Templates, click this and then Style Manager, select Edit Templates for the Style you wish to add this product. In the templates select the Navigation/Breadcrumb Templates -> navbar

Once you click on the navbar template link, you will see a window with the navbar coding, this is where you will find that hook. You can just paste $template_hook[navbar_buttons_left] into the Search in template and it will highlight this code for you.

Hope that explains it a little better.

I'll start coding this integration once I get out of hospital - I'm in hospital from Sunday onwards, probably a few days before I am released back home after surgery.

It will probably take a few days to code the integration since it will require template caching, and other php files.

I just checked your images... here's what is incorrect.

With Flash a image extension should be either one or another. I see you've got all Jpegs images which is correct, but the extensions are in a mixed character state.

Example:
1.JPG

13, 14, 15 & 17 are .jpg

So you have mixed extensions of upper and lowercase extensions, change these to lower case only, and that should fix the problem.

Yes... open the vb_igallery.php file and find this line of code:

echo "<td class=\"tcat\" width=\"100%\">vB-iGallery</td>\n";

That will change the header text of the main table header.

As for vBa CMPS - I will look into this because it modification requires non-standard setup compared to most modules. I think the PHP div container will still function, but I will have to check first.

Thanks syrus. Please let me know if you find anything new regarding the vb module. I would like to be able to present this on my front page within a module. Thanks again.

This could be done using a different database call and sort. I would have to segment routines to allow more images to show, or add another feature.

i hope it's possible :D and doesn't take so much effort to do that.

because many members in my forum don't prefer upload using the vb album.

Thank you

I will look into this... there's routines that are non-standard and will require workarounds for it to function correctly. There is one thing I will need to know, have you got vBa CMPS installed the vBulletin root or outside? Because this will need a path change depending on how you have the vBa CMPS installed.

If I may ... I'm running vBa CMPS as well and hope to display my new sphere ( ;) ) in a module on the front page. Tried to set it up last night, but just don't have the know-how for the work-around you note. In my case, the answer to your question above is yes, my CMPS is installed in the root.

Couple thoughts for consideration:

1) Ideally, once its displayed in a front page module, I'd be able to reduce it in size (so it doesn't bust the page), and when users "activated" it by either mousing over or clicking on it, it would expand to full size, then reduce again either after a default time setting or when the user actively ends his session somehow. Sorry, I know that's not well stated; it's early morning here and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

2) Also--and this may be more doable short-term--I would really like to be able to make some of the images (either the thumbnail or full sized) be hotlinks to other parts of the site ... kind of a 3D site index. Hope to have a go at that later today.

At any rate, thanks again for a great mod. Installed and working fine. :)

1. At the moment the flash file has a fixed size with respect to the dimensions, hence 900 pixels wide, which was intended initially as a standalone on just a single vBulletin page. This is how it was designed, and not really to be used in vBa CMPS. For it to work in this script it requires some recoding of javascript attributes and using a different embed method so it will use the vBulletin templating system as opposed to pure PHP coding. From what I can remember with vBa CMPS it is quite straight forward, but I would need to code a vBa CMPS module for it, along with some additional coding in another template. It could be setup within a collapsible module, if thats what you are referring to? The overall size I will change in the update, and users can set the globe radius as they see fit for their own websites (this attribute is documented in the user guide under Advanced XML Configuration).

2. Making the images hotlink to other urls is quite easy, but not implemented in this version. I will look at this in an update, all it would involve additional url and target attributes in the XML file on the images you want hyperlinked, and the ones you dont want associated with an hyperlink you would just enter no url or target.

Glad you got it all working in the end! :)

Thanks.. Yes it could be easily used for that purpose, I'll look into coding the AS for hyperlinking via the current XML file. For obvious reasons all links would need to be absolute - dependng on where users have installed their vBa CMPS.

I don't actually use vBa CMPS myself, but I used to a year or so ago, so I'm familiar with module layout coding. But actually getting this globe to work is another matter since it requires some coding in the headinclude, unless it can be coded another way - it took me awhile to get the current embed code working in PHP. I originally had it running under a simple HTML page, but it failed under PHP, so it had to be coded slightly different.

With future updates this will be totally changed, and everything will become easier to use.
i can't wait!

thanks!

wonder if you could help in a little problem we have, weve installed it and checked and every thing is fine and working as it should, so we then went on to edit the images and thumbnails,
edited them all to the correct names IE: 1.jpeg, 2.jpeg ect,ect and the sizes you explained in the guide

images: = 500x375
thumb: = 100x80

also edited the tooltip and description.

the problem we have is that the images and thumbnails show up fine but the tooltip and descriptions we edited are still showing up as default.

any ideas please ?

DEMONSTRATION UPDATED - Public release due by 19/07/08
Only the flash gallery file has been changed so far...
I've just updated the demonstration to V2 with the following:

Added:
10 More Attributes - these are not all shown in the demo.
Background Image Import - iGallery now supports importing a full size background image - allowing you to customize it totally for your own sites content/color scheme.
Hyperlink Images - Any image can be hyperlinked easily to any link (internal or external).

ToDo List:
The following will be done before this iGallery version is released.
Layout design changed slightly for vBa CMPS installation.
vBa CMPS Module Block added. (Demo will be made available showing the differences)
Logo idea dropped due to this can now be done using a background image as per the latest demo.

Once the aformenioned has been completed then the vBulletin integration for vBulletin 3.7 user Album system will be added. This will then become a product XML import, and require no images to be uploaded apart from your own background image. All images, thumbs and full sizes will be pulled from vBulletin, all attributes will be made available and set via the AdminCP. A plugin system will allow for further expansion to use other scripts, these will be released once the vBulletin integration is out of beta testing.

Yeah, the updated flash file will be released tomorrow that allows for custom background import, etc. The vbulletin integration will be a bit longer since I will be coding that when I return home from hospital.

The v2 igallery flash file will be released as an addon, and can be used if anyone wants to customize the igallery to their own styles. :)

UPDATE 31/07/08

Modification Update due this weekend: vBulletin 3.7 User Album Bridge

I'm hoping to release the vBulletin 3.7 Album Bridge this weekend, if all goes well in testing. This update will allow the following:
Background Image Import in main SWF file. Allowing you to customize the gallery easily to your own sites color scheme.
All images will be pulled from the vbulletin database, regardless if they are stored in MySQL or your file system. For best results Albums should be stored in your file system to prevent 'bloating' the database, and queries required.
Full dynamically updating via vBulletin 3.7 User Albums.
vB iGallery will show the last uploaded images over all user albums. (Number of images to show has not yet been set - but this can easily be adjusted).
No AdminCP control as of yet. There will be a smaller gallery available soon after, this will suit the vBadvanced CMPS and a center block module import.

Once, I've fully recovered from my recent surgery I will update this modification much further. For the time being I'm taking things easy, so please be patient with current update timeframe.

Thanks, and enjoy the future updates!:)

The Album Bridge? Is this where users will have their own albums in the flash format?

The vBulletin 3.7 Album User Bridge v1.0 will just be a simple bridge that pulls the last uploaded images to all user albums. It is not user specific yet, this will be an option when the bridge is fully supported under AdminCP control, with usergroup permissions, etc.

Basically, the bridge about to be released will just be a dynamic XML version of what is already available, but requires no images - since they are all pulled through the vb database, eliminating the need to create images manually.

It will be available has a separate download, and is only a single file upload, no product XML file is required for the bridge. It will come with a new flash igallery file, which is configured for dynamic input only, along with background image import.

Hi,

Sorry I missed your questions... my apologies

Pulling images from external sources (outside your own domain) requires a PHP proxy to workaround the Adobe cross-domain security in flash, this maybe looked at in a later version. Basically, for now it will just be for vBulletin 3.7 using a bridging script feed.

1. It will only pull images from public albums, for security reasons the data bridging file is setup not to allow direct access to albums, only the igallery can read the data.

2. Queries used will be very low due to the way the integration works.

ADVANCED NOTIFICATION

Update 12th August 2008 release (Later today)

vB iGallery V2.0
On demonstration HERE (http://www.digitalport.co.uk/digital/vb_igallery.php).

As requested by many we have bridged this product to work with vBulletin 3.7 User Albums. Because this is just a temporary bridge, it has no AdminCP at present, this will change when we release a Multi-bridging Script which will allow you to choose what gallery you want, upload/delete background images, over 60 parameter settings which control camera position, globe settings, mirrors and much more.

The release today will allow the following:

Background Image Import
Pulls images from vBulletin 3.7 User Albums
Tweens images from thumbnails to Full size automatically
Resizes images automatically regardless if they are portrait or landscape view
Can read PNG, GIF and JPG formats (Animated GIFs are not supported by Flash, so these will be shown as static images)
By default it will be setup to pull the last images uploaded to any album, we have set this to pull the last 6 images per album (this can be changed to suit your own requirements)
vBulletin User Album 'Captions' have been setup to show within the 'Description' field. This field has been changed to multi-line to compensate for long captions entered within vBulletin. The bridge does require a vBulletin default to be changed, this is to give the lowest possible SQL queries. vB iGallery will query the database for the caption data only, it has also been optimized by default parameters to be CPU friendly. Tooltips have been removed in V2.0 which would have caused unnecessary SQL queries.

Regards,

Syrus XL

If I understand correctly, then Yes, it should be the final release for 2.0 version. And yes, it will pull the image from user album, which set public view (not private).

1. With no database it was very quick loading, but that is still using a non-optimized version of the flash file.

2. This would depend on how many images were defined by the user.

3. Well I populated it with over 100 images on test, but this was done dynamically and not using a static XML file.

Hi,

The new version which I'm about to release does away with all XML editing... its just a case of uploading the files and doing a bit of reconfiguration on user Albums. Everything else is automatically done via vBulletin.

I was referring to populating the XML version dynamically under a test environment. V2 released last night is set to pull only 6 images from each album, this can be lowered for larger boards. It only shows the last few images uploaded to any album, not the whole allbum.

You cannot use both at the same time unless some file names are changed, and a few code changes.

No, Albums on FORUMHOME has been tested - its actually running on the demonstration forum. There are no conflicts or issues between the two modifcations.

Hi syrus.xl,

when "Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails", should i move to the folder under iGallery's folder "/albums/thumbs/" ? Thanks.

Once this Action has been done, vBulletin will create a directory called /albums/thumbs/0/ and /album/0/ this should be left as it is. The bridge is setup to pull images directory from these two directories.

Hi,

The first 2 fields require paths from your home directory, the url is relative to your forums.

Example: (not not all hosting providers follow this example)

/home/username/public_html/forums/albums/thumbs

and

/home/username/public_html/forums/albums

vBulletin will add a new directory called '0' to both directories by default.

You do not need to create more directories, they are already in the package and just need CHMODing to 777 - so they can be written to by your webserver.

If you still need help PM me.

It sounds like the incorrect action was taken. Storing in the file system has 2 Actions, one will cause thumbs and full images ALL to be placed in the /albums/0/ directory. While the other action will split them evenly between the directories.

For this to work check this instruction:

Changing the Album Storage vBulletin System default Storage Type
Follow this guide and everything will work correctly. First login to your vBulletin AdminCP, scroll down to User Albums, and now click on Album Picture Storage Type. Now select Action -> ?Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails?.

Hope that works..

Try re-downloading the new package 2.02 - I've just updating an issue with the iGallery and an issue with domain locking.

This should fix the problem - I only updated the vb_igallery.swf file, so by overwriting this file it should fix that issue.

BTW, the last line should be a path not a relative url.

Now there one more issue.

In IE7 i get an error saying: swfmacmousewheel is empty or is no object
Line 61 on http://www.bodyresource.nl/forum/vb_igallery.php

Checking in FF it says about the same: Line61 swfmacmousewheel has no properties

Can you take a look what's the problem ?

syrus.xl
08-13-2008, 08:46 PM
This is an issue I'm looking into... it relates to Apple users, using a mousewheeel for Zoom control of the globe. As soon as I find the problem it will be fixed. It doesn't actually cause a problem with the vB iGallery, but it's just one of those annoying little issues that is there.

I'm just coding a vBa CMPS module for this iGallery and using very similar coding, but slightly different calls which I'm hoping will fix this issue. If this works then I'll apply the same coding to the vb_igallery.php file.

Syrus,

I have just installed 2.02. It worked out nicely but I do have some questions for you.

1/ Follow this guide and everything will work correctly. First login to your vBulletin AdminCP, scroll down to User Albums, and now click on Album Picture Storage Type. Now select Action -> ‘Move pictures into the file system with direct access to thumbnails’. Enter the paths to the album and thumbnail directories and the url to thumbnails. Remember the first to fields require no trailing slash, but the last field does require the trailing slash. If you enter any path incorrectly vBulleitin will not move your images because it will not find your album directories.

And I see this on adminCP:
Album pictures are currently being stored in the database
Full Picture File Path: /public_html/albums/
This file path should be readable AND writeable by your web server (usually chmod 0777)

Thumbnail File Path: /public_html/albums/thumbs/
This file path should be readable AND writeable by your web server (usually chmod 0777)

URL to Thumbnails: What will it be???
(relative to main forum directory)

What are the path for those three fields? I didn't change any paths on your instruction.

2/ Talking about the viewing permission, how am I going to limit guess or certain group to access/view the Gallery?

3/ When it pulls the images from user album, will it also pull the image description/caption there?

4/ I noticed that there is a script error somewhere on 2.0.2. I also see it on your demo site. I'm using xp sp3. But it is disappeared after I hit F5

Hi,

Both of the first paths need to be full paths - these vary depending on your hosting provider. Typically, they will look something like this:

/home/username/public_html/albums

/home/username/public_html/albums/thumbs

The third field is a relative url to your forums with a trailing slash -
Example:

/albums/thumbs/

You can pull the path information by using vBulletin Maintenance -> PHP info look under PHP variables for the paths.

If you still have problems once these paths have been entered correctly, then perhaps your server requires 755 as a write permission, instead of 777.

Captions are pulled from the database only when an image is viewed full size, it will be displayed within the multi-line description field of the iGallery.

At the moment there are no viewing permissions setup. This was being held off, until the full admincp version was released with all bridges available. But this will probably change since this issue has been brought up a number of times. Some changes have been made to the vBulletin Bridge file already, this includes a limiter, so it stops loading too many images on large forums.

The javascript I am aware of, and working on a fix for this issue.

Let me know how you get on.

I answered the javascript issue in a previous post (on the previous page).

You can put images back into the database by using User Albums -> Album Storage Type and selecting database storage. This puts all images back into the vbulletin database, which is the default setting on 3.7.

Optimizing vBulletin 3.7 does actually state not to store large amounts of images in the database due to 'bloating' it. But this is entirely upto the individual.

Yes, tooltips were removed from v2.0 due to excessive sql queries being made. Another reason was each tooltip would require a field from vBulletin, but the User Albums have no titles for images, therefore it was all removed.

This may change when other bridges are released.

I did try this on your forum, but there seems to be a conflict with another modification which is preventing the Album Rebuild from working correctly.

Any mod that is resizing images should be disabled while you do the above thumbnail rebuild. You can always re-enable any image related modification after the aforementioned is completed.

Thanks for this amazing mod! Your mod is probably the most gorgeous in presentation!

I have a bug to report: this mod does not work unless both the album and thumbnail directories are located within VB forum directory. If these directories are located outside the VB forum directory, this mod does not work even if they are within the public htdocs folder.
A similar problem is if the thumbnails directory is located within VB forum directory but the albums directory is located outside the VB forum directory, then the image sphere will show but when an image is clicked, the flash script hangs because it can't find the album pics.

Thanks for the compliments! :)

It's not actually a bug, the bridging script is hardcoded only to work from inside the forum root, once this modification has its own AdminCP then the actual directories will allow images from anywhere including outside the webserver root. Basically, it was done this way to avoid confusion, eventhough it still has caused some confusion with some people, not knowing their correct paths on their servers.

Hi there Syrus!

Many many thanks for this mod, it is beautiful!

I believe the question was asked in the past, but I couldn't find an answer. My site uses a fixed-width theme, which is smaller than the flash size. Is it possible to customize the size of the flash file? I was able to make the background smaller, but the flash still displays as if it is larger than what is displayed (i.e. "centered" is to the right a bit).

I would love to use this, but (unfortunately) I won't be able to until I can reduce the pixel size of the flash file.

syrus.xl
08-18-2008, 04:19 PM
What sort of fixed size are you looking for? The igallery cannot be resized using jus the embed code, but it can be recompiled at a different size. At the moment, I'm not sure what to size this at, mainly because I use a 24" monitor and issues on sizing don't really matter to myself.... ;)

Would 800 or maybe 750 pixels still be too wide? I don't actually use fixed widths on my site, but I will do in the future.

Hi,

This mod will only read from the fixed paths set in the vbi.php file. Therefore if you wanted it to work you would need to move your images to the database then back to the new album structure. Later this will be changed, so it will use either the database or directory for pulling images, basically this was just a quick bridge to vBulletin User Albums without using a product XML install.

That's the point, my pictures are already at the files system but out of the web structure for better safety. I was thinking in just editing your vbi.php file and change the paths to correct ones in my case.
Of course, if you allow me to do that and give me some directions for.

Anyway, if it works, I'm thinking about the brand free license. Could you give me the link at your page for it ? Tried to find it using the one supplied at main post with no luck.

Tks.

It's not been tested outside the web root, but it should be easy to do.

Look inside the vbi.php for the $pictures_xml array - inside this array are the paths called xml_image_thumb_src and xml_img_src. Change these source paths as you see fit for your own file system.

If this doesn't work then the vbi.php file will require some extra coding, therefore it will be released as an update.

I haven't actually setup the brand-free license option on this product yet, I'm in the middle of changing ecommerce scripts. Once you've have it working on your forum, then we can chat about the brand-free option.

Regards.

Would 800 or maybe 750 pixels still be too wide? I don't actually use fixed widths on my site, but I will do in the future.

750 should work just fine. I believe my "inside width" is something like 780px, so 800px would be slightly too big. A 750px size might (should?) accommodate most fixed-width themes.

I'll do this tomorrow for you. I'll release it as a smaller version, many people have asked for already, but I had no idea on widths required.

I was able to run it but only with thumbnails, when I click any one of them the swf freezes, I think because it can't find the album picture patch.

The thumbnails are correct displayed and I just changed the path for something like /myforum/thumbnails/0/

But as my albuns are out of the webroot I'm using something like /home/.dearths/mysite/www/images/0/ and that was exactly the patch I used on Vb when I changed the albums from database to file system.
Any ideas ?

By the way, I'm getting and error on IE that says: ?swfmacmousewheel? is null or not an object. I tried you demo at your site and gives me same error as well.

Hi,

It maybe because we are using a dynamic XML file which cannot read directories outside the webroot. It's like trying to browse a directory outside the web root with a standard browser, it is impossible. Therefore, we need to change this to work from a direct path instead of trying to use relative urls, which is how the igallery currently reads the image data.

We have made changes already to the bridge, which includes tweak settings - we will include in this a path setup instead of url pull.

The javascript error is a known issue which we are trying to fix, basically it is caused by the calls we have used within the main page so that Apple users can use all iGallery features as well as PC owners - making modifications to work cross-browser and cross-platform using flash and javascript can be a nightmare, but we will get there. A little later I'm trying a vBa CMPS block module to display the gallery, again this will be using a different call routine, but it may fix the issue we currently have.

We try and please users regarding support, our user guides are documented for use by even the new people to vBulletin. :)

Thanks for the comments!:)

That's right. Forgot totally about this in XML.

That would be great. I'm sure many others here have their album path out of their web root for the same reason as me: free database of extra load but still getting safety with it.

I've tried on FF and didn't get the same error, I just noticed it slower than IE to load all the thumbnails.

In fact I did some tests for vBa CMPS and it's just a matter of size. It works perfectly.
Considering the stile you have used for this mod, it'll only looks good as a central module, it'll look too small if you try to use it as a left or right module.
But like I said, just a matter of size to fit perfectly on CMPS.

It's a very well done User Guide for this product for sure.

A path is now being added, instead of a relative url.

The js error is caused by Flash not yet being able to recognize Apple OS's - hence we have tried a workaround which is giving the error in browsers.

I will have to see about the vBa CMPS, there's been some mixed views on sizes, regarding the width.

Thanks for the comments! We are developing a Pro version of this modification, but its features are far more advanced, but they already include Flickr RSS support for population, YouTube video (chromeless), uploading of members own video clips, and much more. We should have a demo available soon, and all comments and most suggestions that have been made on this thread have been taken into consideration. Some of these features will be added to this free version, but not all - besides I cannot sell commercial scripts on here. :)

I'll have to check this out on 3.7.3 - I've not had the time lately to check and install this mod with 3.7.3.

I will try this out on a test install a little later.

Thumbs may get stuck if the preloader detects that a thumbnail or main image is missing.

Also note, it will depend which version you have installed. v2.0 shouldn't lose any images if installed correctly, since it uses the vBulletin User Albums. However, in some cases you may need to do a 'Thumbnail Rebuild' in the User Album Manager if some thumbs are not showing.

Thanks for reporting this - I haven't had time to check it myself. I've been updating and designing a new modification that will display the whole 'vB iGallery' within another gallery, this may sound a strange thing to do but it pulls in YouTube videos (without using their player, and many other video formats directly, this means it can pull in virtually anything that is flash related, and play it - even flash games, if required! ;)

I've done all of that. Even limited it to pulling one album picture at a time and it still gets stuck half way.

Hi syrius.xl,

I'm glad you came back.

A path is now being added, instead of a relative url.

I'm still anxious waiting for this....lol....please don't forget.

By the way, I was doing a lot of tests and customized your background to fit it to my board. It's looking great.

My idea is plave vB Igallery right bellow my forums on Forumhome not only as a separate vB page and just a extra link on Navbar as suggested on your instruction manual.

Any suggestion how to do this ?

Tks.

vB iGallery V2.0.2 appears to be compatible with vB3.8.0 Beta 1.
vB3.8.0 Beta 1 navbar is one of the templates that need to be reverted. After doing so you will need to re-add access to the vB iGallery, modifying the navbar template as noted in the vB iGallery User Guide installation instructions.

Can anyone tell me how to remove this, as my thumbs aren't coming up now when looking in the albums on sites and on the profiles in the lil album section on the right. I'd like to know how to put back to before I installed this as im not sure where the Thumbs files were before making new folders and changing the paths.

Thank you

probably gotta be the dumbest question on this thread :( sorry

"We attempted to write a test file to /public_html/albums, but we were unsuccessful. Please verify that the web server has write/delete permissions for this path."

I do not have a forums directory - everything is inside public_html. I have chmod to 777 both albums and thumbnails that are located inside public_html.

Plz guide me

syrus.xl

This could be a CHMOD issue, rather than a path issue. Make sure your server allows the 777 write permission, on some servers this maybe 755 - this will depend on your host.

It should work in the webroot, eventhough we have made changes for a version that works outside the forum root, but this is for a vBadvanced CMPS block.

I'm not sure if it's because of this mod or not. I recently uninstalled it, but since then all the pictures in the albums aren't showing. Alll you can see is an outline of the thumbnail and a small red cross in the top left-hand corner.

Any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks

Do you have a vba block module for this?
