I am getting a lot of spam bots posting the url www.addictiontreatment.net on my site.
I already have put this url in the censor, but the bots are still coming using many IP's.

Does anyone have an idea how to counter this specific spam nuisance?

I had this problem too and I found a way that is quick and easy to deal with the spambots.

I created a new usergroup with the permissions of the 'Banned Usergroup' and added the following code to the headinclude of my skins:

<if condition="$bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == XX">
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.anyaddress.com">
</if>

Just change XX to the usergroup number which you want redirected to the address listed.
Also change http://www.anyaddress.com to whatever address you want them redirected to.

Anyone logging in to your forum who is in this new usergroup will be redirected to the site of your choosing. A user could press the escape key to interfere with the redirection though.

Also I make their advertisement, or part of it, a banned word or make a smilie to interfere with part of their advertising. I had a big problem with wow spam bots and so made a smilie that displays whenever the words wow or WOW are used on my forum.

Some of the spammers use so many proxy IP address it can create a huge amount of work keeping them away. Often I just change their password, delete their posts and get on with my day. The redirection has worked best for me so far.

The redirection has worked best for me so far.
The idea is good, but you still have to change the usergroup. So I might as well ban.

I have that and several other anti-spam modifications.

Spamming software designed for vbulletin is worth looking into. I hope a coder finds the time to inspect it and find ways to counter it.

I prefer to use another usergroup for these types of registrations. There is nothing preventing you from using your Banned Usergroup number and adding that to the code supplied above.

I have been getting a ridiculous amount of spammers signing up to my forum I have 100 members I think about 70 of them are spammers that I banned. It is not just WoW either, it is a couple of other sites one spammer had the nerve to post some viagra crap in our Sunday thread! And the last one that shows up alot is from some website called ideewoman.com advertising jewelry. My problem is so extreme that me and the other admin have to ban at least once a day. If I can't find a solution I might be forced to switch to other forum software to avoid these spammers, it is bringing down the spirits of my admin.

What about using ReCaptcha?

I use it and this WoW robot is the only one that achives registration. I don't know how but this robot passes thru reCapcha. I also had Is Robot Registration time check and didn't work either.
I erase posts myself with Easy one click Clean and Ban mod and banned the site in the bad words filter.

Pre moderate the first five or so posts for all new users, that helps drastically. Or add the suspect words to one of those filter add ons which puts all posts with the quote into the moderation queue.
