Hey, i am running vBulletin 3.6.8 but i need to know some stuff about upgrading before i do upgrade.....

1) i have made some changes in the postbit, will that be affected when i upgrade?

2) Will upgrading affect templates or anything else?

When a new version of vBulletin is released, it is common for some of the default templates (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/templates_intro) to have been updated to accommodate new features or fix bugs.

If you have not customized any of your templates, this need not concern you, but if you have customized some of the default templates there are a few steps you will need to follow after you have finished running all the appropriate upgrade scripts.

Note:

Any templates that you have not customized will automatically be updated to use the newest versions.

However, any templates that you have customized will not be altered or overwritten by importing the latest style, hence the need for the following steps.

Upgrading, may affect some modifications. It is best to try things out on a test board which has the same modifications installed e.t.c. as your live forum.

wait- also- do i need to like update my theme/skin(template)?? idk how to do that

If you are using a customised skin you need to contact the author of the style and seek assistance from them.

what is the difference between customizes and normal skins?

The normal skin is the default vBulletin one that you have when you first install vBulletin. Any other skin is a customised skin.

i had 3.6.8 patch l2
i upgraded to 3.7.1 with no problems .. but only had few mods not working just had to upgraded them ... thats all ..

but some people saying there r bugs in 7.1 and 7.2 so i suggest not to do it ...as i degraded mine ..


also make backup b4 doing the upgrading ... or degrading ..
