I am in the process of converting over a mid sized Fireboard forum to vB for obvious reasons. Converting it is not issue, I have done it quite a few times with great results thanks to ImExp. The client is concerned with maintaining his/her good Google Page rank. The Joomla/Fireboard has SEF urls and the client is concerned that http://foobar.com/this-educational-thread will suddenly fail in Google and the client will lose PR for a period of time until the site get re-indexed.

Should this be a concern? Will Google re-index the new site quick enough for this to not be a issue? I know when Joomla's forum converted over to phpBB it was a huge problem for about 30-60 days. Nothing you searched for ever resolved properly.

Anybodies previous experiences would be appreciated. I would rather not make a huge .htacces file with hundreds of redirects but I will if I have to I suppose.

Have a look at the 404.php script that comes with ImpEx.
