Recent Threads display in templates

I am currently using vBulletin 3.7.2 I want to display the recent threads in a table. My friend recommended putting $latest where I want the threads, but nothing seems to show up. Any ideas?

You need to first install the mod.. and then put the variable which maybe be defined in readme..

I tried the display X posts one on vBulletin 3.7.2 but when I put $latest it just replaces it with nothing. Though when I have the plugin auto place the thread list shows up.

How do I remove the Forum and User columns? I just want the post titles and have them as a link to the post.
