P.S.: Before you upload new files to your forum root path via FTP I recommend you to make a backup not just DB, but all files on FTP to have full backup of your forum.

A few steps:
1. Make backup of DB and files on FTP.
2. Upload new files via FTP
3. Run /install/upgrade.php from forum root path and follow easy steps through upgrade.
