I have a user that needs to post information when he replies to a thread.. The user goes to a website where information is presented in a format that is made up of tables.. He goes to the page the information is on, right clicks>select all> right click > copy.
Then goes to another site , quotes a post and then right clicks >paste and the information in the tables shows up exactly as it did on the original page..
When he comes to our site and does the same thing the information loses all the formating and shows up a just jumbled text.
I turned on HTML posting and I can dig through the source , get the code and it will post in it's correct format that way.
The user is doing us a big favor and I want it to be just as easy for him on our site as it is on the other site...
Any Idea what I can look for ?
Thanks for any help
Steve

I know what you mean. I will try to find it now, but it can take a while.. :)
Try this one: http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=45059295as6.jpg
This button switching design/text mode. If the "design mode" is enabled, you can copy your materials WITH oryginal formating.
If you switch this to the "text mode" you cant do it. In text mode, you allso see a bb code tags in your message.
However, i cant find the place in ACP where you can make this settings default for all users. Maybe its impossible :) Probably you will need to inform your redactors about this button manualy :)

ACP > vBulletin Options > Message Posting Interface Options >
Full editor
Quick Replay
Quick Edit
You need to set a "Enable standard & WYSIWYG controls". I think its best to set it for everyone.

OK,, we are on the right track!
Just one more hurdle :(
When I go to the advanced editor window the switch is now visable... I click it and then past my tables... They show up just right in the editor window but loose the tables when I submit the reply...
Any ideas on this one? :)

I`m afraid its impossible to copy everything with correct formating. If you mean the TABLES like in ms word, probably you need to install a table hack from here:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=107985&highlight=table
But... you will have to copy everything manualy.
This "design mode" isn`t perfect, ant its working only with easy things.
Try to copy site source to the post in html allowed forum.
Maybe... if you allow html in your forum it will make some effects, but im not sure because i have never doing things like this.
Maybe if you give some links for materials you want copy, someone will help you :)

Here is a post that is done the way I explained in the first post... I took control of the users computer and watched as he did it so I know he did it with ease :)
Here is the informatin he posted and the formating... On the other site http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2718201&postcount=2
With the editor mode set I can duplicate the exact same thing in the editor window but it comes out like this when it is posted.

I have html posting for my account and either off or on makes no difference... Like I said, I saw him do it ,, just need to figure out how it was happening :)

It's actually called "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get) mode and "standard" mode.

I dont know what you mean.
YOU NEED to set "Allow html" in your board settings here:
ACP>Forums & Moderators>Forum Manager> here you have to choose specyfic forum section you want to allow html, and click EDIT FORUM > in the bottom part of settings named 'Enable / Disable Features' table you must set ALLOW HTML YES.
Now only in this one forum section you can copying your materials like you want.
