Colors and Header

Can someone walk me through changing the color of my forum. I'm a complete novice. Not sure if I need a skin or can I change the actual color of the forum as it sits now? I also want to add a custom header with my company logo and name at the top.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much, that was helpful.

I changed some of the color codes for things such as table headers and category strips and saved it. When I refresh the forum you can see it flash to the new colors but it immediately reverts back to the original than. My custom colors are there for only a second.

Any suggestions?
