how are ppl promoting Social Group usage on their forums?
Right now, it seems difficult at best with no real add-ons for it. I couldn't even figure out how to get social group membership into one's postbit (no add-on either), which I would think be a basic idea for promotion. +_+
I find there is a need and people seem to want something like it... just no one knows its there to use!
any suggestions -- other than a general announcement or post about social groups (so not the same thing) -- about how to promote social group usage (or that its even there)?

i've the same 'trouble', unfortunately the development/support for this feature is very poor ... example: if someone writes something into SG none can knows this cause there aren't notifications/mails etc ... so this feature is 'stand alone' into vB ...
PS. UT damn! what a great game! ;)

lol rgr that! UT is pwnage!!
but I totally agree... why make it so separate from the forums? why isn't there any decent integration with the forums for the system vb worked so hard to release????
Does anyone actually have an active SG group going? I've yet to see one.
I can just about guarantee it would be more popular and effective with a few simple additions like that.

The SG forums hack is good for promotion of SG's. Almost every site has requests for forums members want added. Simply allow groups with a certain amount of members to create forums. In other words; let members organize a drive for more group members, so they can create new forums.

some really gotta make a way for people to see what's going on in groups.
like pm or post or email for when someone replies? or postbit? etc

We haven't tried to promote them. Is there some reason we should? I mean, even if the sg discussions had some sort of subscriptions.

Reason to promote?
an expanded sense of community?
Making the site mean more to more people.
And become of more 'use'
