[HOW] Use a display name instead of a username

is there any hack or any way i can make this happen.... so user can change their display name when they want instead of user name.....

if they want to show choose their desire custom name instead of user name so it can show in the postbit instead of their actual suer name....

like this hack but its for version 2 so i m not sure this will work or not..... can someone please guide me...

Create a new profile field, and replace all instances of (in templates):
$bbuserinfo[username]
$post[username]
$prepared[username]
With:
$bbuserinfo[fieldX]
$post[fieldX]
$prepared[fieldX]
Where "X" in "fieldX" is the profile field's ID (given in the profile field manager).

i did but my user name still display when i make thread and in the chatbox.... it changes only on right upper corner... where u can see the new message and name.. i want it to change instead of showing user name their choose name...

There was an "Alias" mod around here somewhere. Do a search for "Alias".
