Hey there!
I want to change the directory per forum for each statusicon. Can someone please show me a step by step on how to work the prefix changer? Its the "Prefix for Forum Status Images" under edit forum.

Upload files to your server in the same place as your status icons with a prefix (say forum1_) and set "Prefix for Forum Status Images" to be "forum1_".

Forum Status images are usually shown alongside the forum in a forum listings to indicate the read status.
This prefix must only contain alphanumerical characters, though the following are also allowed - _ / ., a folder name is also acceptable to be placed within the status icon directory.
The following images are currently in use for status icons, you will need to create images with the specified prefix to match.
forum_link.gif
forum_new.gif
forum_new_lock.gif
forum_old.gif
forum_old_lock.gif
Not terribly well explained I guess....
The status icons are in images/statusicons folder. I presume the new image names would be prefix_new.gif e.t.c

Just have a specific name for each forum. If you have several categories then place your icons in folders.
For instance, if you had two categories with two forums each:
Category1: ABC, DEF
Category2: XYZ, BLAH
Then place and name your icons like so:
vb_root/images/statusicon/categ1/ABC_forum_new.gif and ABC_forum_old.gif
vb_root/images/statusicon/categ1/DEF_forum_new.gif and DEF_forum_old.gif
vb_root/images/statusicon/categ2/XYZ_forum_new.gif and XYZ_forum_old.gif
vb_root/images/statusicon/categ2/BLAH_forum_new.gif and BLAH_forum_old.gif
Then, in admincp for each forum use these prefixes:
For forum ABC: categ1/ABC_
For forum DEF: categ1/DEF_
For forum XYZ: categ2/XYZ_
For forum BLAH: categ2/BLAH_
