You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.

Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website

Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer

when I choose option 1. i entered where the image is. then click save
changes. it give me a error of: Invalid URL

anyone knows how to fix this problem?

confirm that you have set the permissions for folder customavatars. it must have read/write/exec permissions

I suggest that you create a Support Ticket for this. Very difficult to troubleshoot without having acces to the board.

I think it's a problem with vB itself. Since upgrading to 3.7.x my users haven't been able to upload an avatar from ANY url.

Their working fine on my site since upgrading to 3.7.1. At least I haven't heard of anyone having any problems and I have one user that is constantly changing her avatar.

Support staff is also looking at your issue in the ticket you have created. In a support ticket we have more options to troubleshoot this issue directly on your server, but it seems there might be a problem with the new upload functions introduced with 3.7.1 and PHP 4. Developers are looking into this issue and will inform you (probably in the support ticket) once a solution is found.

Yeah, I am using 3.7.0 with PHP 4.4.x and having the Upload from URL problem. Only a few users use that option so I told them for now just to upload from their computer as that option still works. :)

urlJET has me on the list to be upgraded to PHP 5.x and MySQL 5.x at some point in the near future.

I don't know of any reports with 3.7.0 and PHP 4. This problem was introduced in 3.7.1 with the new upload functions.

So if you are running 3.7.0 then you have an unrelated problem.

According to that report, it was happening with PHP 5.25. Strange...

Unrelated problems and myself go hand in hand. :)
