I am currently working on this - user import is done and I will look at forums/posts/threads tomorrow :)

If there is anyone who is looking for this and would be willing to help test it please post here so that I can contact you in a few days to test the hack :)

Yes, I am interested in this. I just purchased a license for vBulletin, and am currently running phpBB 1.4.0, and would most likely like to import everything I can as soon as possible.

Please let me know.:)

Doesn't hurt to have two as the best features of both can be combined.

I'm interested in this too, I'm currently waiting for someone to write a conversion tool before I'm gonna purchase a license.

I guess I really don't need the script anymore as I already started over a long time ago.

I wasn't too far into phpBB, so I just had every register again, and start over.

I am a lot happier with VB. The features are more robust, and seem to work much better. Now if I could only get good at customizing things.

All I have been able to change so far is colors and small things like that.

I didn't import anything. I just started over.

I am one of those impatient people that doesn't like to wait for anything.

No big deal though, I had only been running phpBB for 3 or 4 weeks, and didn't have that much to lose.

Most people were happy to start over with something better.

I am very interested in this. I have other boards that want to merge with my site and this would be great if I had this because I have 2 sites that are running PHPBB.

Please email me when there is more info on this.

It would be great to have this conversion script, I will purchase vBulletin if I can get one somewhere. I tried one that i saw by searching the forums here, but it only imported 8 people, then crashed. The phpbb database I have has about 80 members, with 25k posts. been up for 2 months, too far into it to just start fresh.

<a href="http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21064" target="_blank">http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=21064</a> - here's one.

And if this is the one that crashes, please inform the creator next time so he can fix it!

Yes that's the one, it works great for the first 8 or 9 users. I sent the author an email offering to help get the problems resolved, since he doesn't have a large phpBB database to work with. Hopefully we can get it working!

Thanks,
Kyle

I tried it, and it chokes majorly on fields that contain ' adding addslashes around the fields where he replaces ' with \\' helps to some extent.

Personally I removed the homepage field from the conversion and added addslashes around the user signature field from there on it went smoothly till the post conversion. But since I only needed the user database I didn't look any further into it.

Has anyone made this script to work yet?

Yes the script is now working 100%, Nebula will post it here in a few when he is back in town.

It converted all 100+ users, and 35k posts.

I didn't convert the styles, because I wanted to re-do them anyways. (vBulletin looks so much better than phpBB 'out of the box' IMO)

He should be posting it soon, but if you can't wait email me.

I do not have a license yet! Therefore I am unable to go the URL listed above. Can somebody confirm that this script will work with a 1.4.4 phpbb Board?

I am interested in purchasing vB but I have a big phpbb board that needs to be converted (Users, Categories, and posts).

Thanks!

P.
