External RSS and attachments.

Got sent here from vbulletin.com after I posted this question:


I want to show my attachment image thumbnails in my RSS2 feed. I see in postbit_external conditionals like
<if condition="$show['attachments']"> and <if condition="$show['thumbnailattachment']">. Where are these options handled?

Is anyone familiar with this? Why would those conditionals be in the template if they dont do anything? Is there a way I can show attachment images in my external RSS?

I too am after this.

I haven't been able to turn up any good info on this: I want to change the char-limit of my RSS output, and add a "read more" type link. I'd also like to make it so that images appear instead of just saying "Attachment 2499" etc.

Can any offer some advice or point me in the right direction?

This question has been around since 2004, but it appears that there still isn't an answer to it. Crazy that VB keeps ignoring it's users and ruining the feeds with "attachment" . You'd think they'd come up with some decent feeds instead of forcing users to replace their antiquated feed system with external systems like feedburner.
