Hey folks,

Here's an oddball that I've created by installing several hacks and, as I like the way to site operates, I'd prefer not to globally uninstall everything (again):

This image and path:

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa301/loon_ey_tune/avatar_48525.gif

results in an Invalid URL error when a user attempts to use it as a Custom Avatar.
(Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website)
Looks fine in a browser and I can use it in a message. I just can't seem to upload it without the Invalid URL

Using the Administation option still errors.

The same image hosted elsewhere does just fine and an unhacked 3.7 install elsewhere handles it as easily as mine does others (whew).

The hacks installed were/are:
vMoods
vBCredits
Favorite Smilies
GoldBrick
ProArcade
vBAdvanced
Radio and TV
Album Pictures Forum Home
and a few style/templates...

Do any of these look like suspects for an issue seemingly only related to photobucket?
(I actually attempted to upload photobuckets homepage logo and it even works...)

Help?

You could simply disable each hack 1 by 1 to see if the issue goes away.

Also use a default style with no parent to make sure its not template issue as well.

Nice ideas. I tried both unsuccessfully as the first response is always "Need a nice clean virginal installation" - Didn't seem to help so now we're trying the server folks. The IP address for Photobucket allows the upload to proceed. The name seems to be where the issue lies..

Weirdness.

the url has to have http://www.

Photobucket doesn't have that.

Actually, the http://www is only prefilled in the box. IP addresses even work well for me and I made up a few locations of my own just to check. (http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/3418/avatar48525sr1.gif) even works..

Well I myself have never had photobucket work for that.

I can upload the avatar onto my site. Have you had your host check your server settings? Perhaps they are blocking you from doing this.

We're into that element of chasing it down now. I'm sure it's something I installed but with the added surprise of uploading using IP working and failing using the name - it's a little weird...

I've logged into several and uploaded it perfectly..

Darn it! ; )
