View Full Version : Forum Home Enhancements - Remove links from category name
Mazinger
05-14-2008, 10:00 PM
This modification removes the link from the category name, and leaves only the text.
Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> ? ? -> forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost
Search for:
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
Replace it with:
$forum[title]
Save the work.
Click 'Mark as Installed' to get support for this modification.

Why in the world would you want to do that? Doesn't it completely cripple the usability?

Because if your forum has a lot of forums and sub forums under one category and a user clicks on the cat link.. It looks like CRAP.. Could be rather confusing to the noob user too!
Thanks for this!!

This may come in handy on one of my other forums.

please note that if you remove the link, you can't link to any category anymore
I mean, some people have in their forums very different categories, and if they want to put some links to specific category to make, or guide someone to this category, they don't need to follow your way here..

I think this is what I have wanted to use along with the mod "Cyb - Sub-Forum Manager".
However, I tried it on my forum and it did not kill the 3 top category links.

I wanted to kill linking to:
Caribbean Islands
Cruise Talk - Questions and Answers
Mexico, Central & South America
It did not work for me so I uninstalled. IS there a fix for me?
